Shedeur Sanders - 2023-25 Tracking History Thread - Drafted by the Cleveland Browns (NFL)

ESPN radio was raving about Shedeur's rookie camp. Said he knocked it out of the park from all aspects. Looked great on the field, showed leadership and built relationships with teammates, was the first to arrive & last to leave practices, and was lights out with his fan & media interactions. Had them asking where thie "entitled" narrative came from because it sure doesn't seem to be the reality of Shedeur.
I saw some social media comments that he was doing so well because 'he had been humbled'

I don't see how a top 5 defense who just added one of the most impactful rookies in the draft and a day 1 starting MLB is going to be rebuilding. This is generally a top 5 running blocking OL when they are running KS's scheme. They had RB issues and just added two late 1st round grades at RB. They had a top 15 TE room and just added one of the most productive TEs from CFB who's a perfect fit as a #2 for CLE. Maybe they got overhyped coming into last year and people jumped the gun on them but even with Pickett starting, I can see 7 to 10 wins being possible. With Shedeur, far more wins. This team is getting slept on. Everyone will have them 4th. Everyone will have them as one of the worst teams in the NFL and I honestly think it's wrong.
The worst thing they can do is start Flacco or Pickett and win 8-9 games. They have to go into the next year's draft, where they have two first round picks both of which will probably be in the top 15, knowing whether they need to do what they can to trade up for a QB or if they can use both first rounders to add pieces and build around Shedeur or Gabriel.

Too bad it went down the way it did. The cream will rise to the top but it still cost Shedeur like $20 mil

Well, that takes the pressure off of them. Nobody expects anything from them. Question is, what do they expect or demand of themselves.

Yep! I do believe that was an issue last year. Everyone thought they were going to compete for a title within that building. I even heard they had a soft and weak summer last year which they realized was a mistake.

Flacco or Pickett isn't playing 17 games unless it's split.

That would be the worst thing for Shedeur and Dillon as it means they aren't the now or the future.

That's why at least being QB2 is critical for Shedeur. Obviously, he wants to win the job, I don't know how feasible that is yet. We won't know till TC.

Winning 8 or 9 with Flacco or Pickett isn't a concern.

Flacco is old and done, it would be a shock if he stays healthy for 8 or 9 games. Pickett just isn't any good.

Fully expect that Flacco or less likely Pickett is the starter for the first 1/3 of the season then is replaced by a rookie. Shedeur is a better QB than Gabriel but Gabriel may get the first look because they want to justify drafting him earlier.

Long run Shedeur should end up as their starter. On paper they are a young team with talent and more incoming.

Bad news for Shedeur is that they are still the Browns so there is no guarantee of future competence in the front office. (and drafting Gabriel in the same draft as Shedeur is another typical Browns headscratcher.)

It's like a baseball swing. If the guy is a great hitter, they call a wasted movement in his swing a "timing mechanism" but the same thing is a "hitch" if he sucks. QB patting the ball is the same thing.

There are 32 teams in the NFL who dont know what they are doing including Cleveland
