Soccer tries to keep the overall level of play up that it showed against the Huskies yesterday, hopefully with a little better finishing, as they face off against another ranked Pac 12 team in the #21 ranked Washington State Cougars.

Edit- Nice chance to see Ms. Ralphie at this match. (Per the article linked to below)-
"
RUN, RALPHIE, RUN: Ralphie will be making her annual appearance at Prentup Field prior to Sunday’s match. Fans will have the opportunity to take photos with CU’s mascot and see her run before kickoff.

"

About the Cougars (from preview at http://www.cubuffs.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=600&ATCLID=210406503)-

"
COLORADO VS. WASHINGTON STATE: The Buffs are 1-4-0 in five meetings against the Cougars. Washington State has won the last four meetings. Last season, CU jumped out to a 1-0 lead behind Brie Hooks’ goal in the 30th minute, but Washington State scored two straight, eventually going on to win 2-1 in Boulder.

SCOUTING THE COUGARS: No. 21 Washington State is 9-2-0 overall and 2-1 against Pac-12 opponents. The Cougars, who play at Utah on Friday before heading to Boulder, started the season winning seven straight and have gone 2-2 over their last four contests. Last week, Washington State dropped a 1-0 match at home against USC and then scored a season-high four goals to defeat UCLA, 4-2. As a team, the Cougars lead the Pac-12 in points and goals. Eleven different Cougars have scored at least one goal this season, led by Kourtney Guetlein who has five and she is also second the squad with three assists. Goalkeeper Ella Dederick has posted two shutouts and has allowed 11 goals, while recording a .828 save percentage.
"
Note- The Cougars continued their winning ways yesterday as they beat the Utes 1-0 on an early (ninth minute) goal by Kaitlyn Johnson.

Heart breaker late in the half as the Buffs score off a nice free kick into the box, but it was ruled (at most) a second or two after the half ended.

Therefore, still 0-2 at the half.

2nd half beginning.

Note- looks like Buff frosh starter Erin Greening went down with her knee at a scary angle late in the 1st half. She limped off the field with assistance, but was able to put some weight on her leg. Don't think she's starting the 2nd half; hope the injury isn't too serious.

0-3 on another wsu goal. Buff defense left a Cougar wide open on the left side and she hit a nice strike from ~15-20 yards out.

Erin Greening is in the game again (with just her upper thigh wrapped). Great that her injury must not be that bad.

And this one ends 0-3.

Tough day for the Buff women in both soccer and volleyball.

In soccer, another frustrating one, as the Buffs had most of the play (out-shooting the Cougars 20-9), but WSU's counter-attack was much more effective than CU's attack.

Oh well, the Buffs are now off to California for their next 3 matches, starting at Stanford next Friday, and so have 3 more chances to earn some quality wins.
