7-0 Gamecocks late in the first.
Vandy just doesn't fit in with the rest of the SEC, kind of like Northwestern in the Big 10(11).

baylor in the big 12
stanford in the pac 10
I think he meant academically - I don't think Baylor will ever be confused with Northwestern, Stanford or Vandy along those lines.
I've always thought there should be a conference for the 'smart schools'
a 'lower tier Ivy BCS league' conference-
Stanford
Rice
Tulane
Northwestern
Duke
Vanderbilt
need at least two more schools-
who am I missing ?

In defense of Baylor, Standford, Duke and some others. They may not be football power houses, but they kick ass at other sports and have the banners to prove it. I know we all think Baylor should not be in the B12, but they have more overall national championships than we do. :sad1:
Doubtful. We have something like 15 skiing championships. Add in a cross country championship here and there and I'd bet we have more than Baylor.
Point taken, though. Baylor won the women's basketball championship 2 or 3 years ago. That's no small accomplishment considering UConn and Tennessee are still very strong programs.

Wiki says Baylor has two NC's, and 57 Conference Championships.
The Colorado Buffaloes have won 23 NCAA championships, including 17 in skiing, three in men’s cross country, two in women’s cross country, and one in football. (This is from the Cu website.)
How long before Spurrier admits to himself that he's taken Carolina as far as they're going to go and he has to give it up and move on?
