The team is hardly the point. If this award goes to a defensive lineman on a team not in national contention, it will shatter the mold for the Heisman.
I consider this a good thing.
Instead of giving the award to the most electric offensive player in the top four ranked teams in the nation, perhaps this could establish the award as one that goes to the most deserving student-athlete.
I'm on board.

a. **** Nub
b. Like when Charles Woodson won it shattered the mold?
When's the last time the Heisman went to a player on a 4 loss team?

I don't disagree with the sentiment.

Didn't Michigan win or split an national championship the year he won (97-ish?). That's a big difference from nebraska this year.
I'd also argue that a shut-down sort of corner is not so much of a leap from a quarterback, runningback, receiver sort of player. I'd argue that a D-lineman really does break the mold.

>I hear ya. The award is a beauty contest -- a good player off of a great team.
The best player on O I saw this year plays for Stanford. The best player on D was Suh. I personally saw Toby more and he won the games for Stanford. Hence, he'd get my vote. Suh number 2.

Tebow in 2007

I thought they qwere contractually obliged to give it to Tebow?
That was only a 3-loss team going into the Heisman voting, their 4th loss came in the bowl game.
It honestly shouldnt matter how many losses the TEAM has, that is why they are not playing for the TEAM trophy (MNC) but instead an INDIVIDUAL is in the running for the top INDIVIDUAL award.
So had the Nubs not lost to Iowa State, then Suh would be a top candidate?
I thought they were contractually obliged to give it to Tebow?
They aren't actually required to give it to him. But Jesus will cry if they don't....
