Next up for RV*** (Recieving Votes) Buff's men's basketball (2-0) is the Sunshine Slam Tourney. For the Buffs it begins with a home game against the Milwaukee Panthers (1-1) this Tuesday. Then, they'll be traveling to Daytona Beach for two more games- 1st off is a game against the Richmond Spiders (2-0) next Monday (11/20) evening (6:00 PM MT). Then, I assume based on how the earlier games have gone for the Buffs and other teams in the tourney, they'll finish off facing off against either the UNLV Runnin' Rebels (1-1) or Florida State Seminoles (1-0) the next day (Tuesday, 11/21) at either 2:00 PM MT (if they win Monday) or 4:30 PM MT (if they lose Monday).
(***In the polls released (dated 11/20) after I strated this thread and before they headed to Daytona Beach, the Buffs are #18 in the media and #21 in the coaches' polls.)

This Tuesday's game is scheduled to be shown on one or more Pac 12 Network channels, while next Monday's will be on CBS Sports Network. (Based on the bracket linked to below, looks like if the Buffs win their Monday game the Tuesday game will begin at 2:00 PM MT and also be shown on the CBS Sports Network, while if they lose Monday the 3rd place game will begin at 4:30 PM MT and be shown on Flohoops.

Further info and links for the 1st 2 CU games for media options are available near the bottom of this thread.)

Note- Not that they necessarily mean much if anything, but in the last NET Rankngs I can find for last season (dated 4/3/23), the Buffs ended up at #76, while Milwaukee was #210, Richmond #160 , UNLV #94 and FSU #220.

Go Buffs!!!

apologies if posted already, but did we ever get the lowdown on what kept Williams out vs Grambling? any word if he plays vs Milwaukee?

is your $.02 based on knowledge of the injury beyond the vague stuff that's been reported?
Nope. Just better to really make sure whatever is nagging him is truly healed and gone. We don't need him to beat Milwaukee. It would then give him over two weeks of rest and treatment.

The Buffs have moved up to JUST making the A/P (believe media) poll at #25, while they're now the 1st team in the "receiving votes" category in the coaches' poll (1 voting point behind co-#25's UCLA and Virginia), so unofficially #27 there.

being ranked bodes well for more games on national TV vs the P12N

Just wanted to note it looks like, through Thursday (Assumig they aren't doing DIFFERENT deals each day?), CU has a ticket offer where you can get tickets for any or all of the 5 remaining home non-conference games in 2023 for $15 (+$2.50 fee) each. (It also works for the 3 remaining 2023 women's home non-conference games and 2 remaining home volleyball matches, only tickets are $5 (+$1.50 fee) each for those.)

SUNSHINE SLAM: Colorado's game with Milwaukee is part of the Sunshine Slam Tournament. Both teams will head to Daytona Beach next week. The Buffaloes will play Richmond on Nov. 20 and either Florida State or UNLV on Nov. 21. Following a home game on Friday with Luther College, the Panthers will continue the Sunshine Slam with Stetson on Nov. 20 and either Siena or Central Michigan on Nov. 21.

THE BUFFALOES: Colorado has a 2-0 start for the seventh time in the last eight years after a 95-63 win over Grambling State on Nov. 10.
NATIONALLY RANKED: Colorado debuted at No. 25 in the first regular season Associated Press Top 25 Men's Basketball Poll released on Nov. 13.

Colorado is ranked by the AP for the first time since holding the No. 22 spot in the final poll of the 2020-21 season. That year the Buffaloes finished 23-9 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
...

ABOUT THE PANTHERS: Milwaukee is 1-1 overall, recording a home win over Wisconsin-Stout, 91-73, in its opener on No. 6 and then falling at Providence - coached by former Buffaloes assistant Kim English - 79-69 on Nov. 11. BJ Freeman had a 33-point, 10-rebound double-double in the loss to Providence.

THE SERIES: This will be the sixth meeting between Colorado and Milwaukee. The Buffaloes have won the five previous meetings; four of the five in Boulder. The last contest was just two years ago, a 65-54 decision on Dec. 10, 2021.

WINSTON HOMECOMING: Colorado will welcome back a familiar name in Milwaukee assistant coach Jose Winston, a three-year letterwinner for the Buffaloes who holds the program's single-game and season assist records.

Winston played at Colorado from 1998-2001 before finishing up his career at Milwaukee in 2002-03. He set Colorado's single-season assist record of 194 in 2000-01 and owns the single-game record of 15 against Coppin State on Jan. 2, 2001.

Winston returned to his native Wisconsin for his senior year and helped guide Milwaukee its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2003. He was a long-time high school coach in Wisconsin before joining Bart Lundy's staff ahead of the 2022-23 season.

Da Silva Named To Wooden Award Watch List

BOULDER – University of Colorado senior Tristan da Silva is one of 50 watch-list members for the 2023-24 John R. Wooden Award the organization announced on Tuesday.

Chosen by a preseason poll of national college experts, the list is comprised of 50 student-athletes who are the early front-runners for the most prestigious honors in college basketball, the Wooden Award All America Team and Most Outstanding Player Award.

Da Silva was a 2022-23 All-Pac-12 Conference First Team selection as a junior, leading Colorado at 15.9 points per game on just under 50 percent shooting. He led the Buffaloes with 54 3-point field goals and 44 steals while ranking second on the team in rebounding with 168.

The preseason honors are rolling in for da Silva. Colorado's active career leader in scoring, da Silva is one of 20 members of the Karl Malone Award Watch List for the nation's best power forward and one of 50 on the Naismith Trophy Watch List.

He was named to Blue Ribbon Yearbook's Preseason All-America Fourth Team and tabbed Preseason All-Pac-12 by both league media and the Almanac, while also being named the latter publication's 56th best player in the nation. A truly positionless player, da Silva topped NCAA.com's Andy Katz's list of the best small forwards in the nation and listed as one of his top 10 seniors in the nation overall.

Two games into the 2023-24 season, da Silva is averaging 17.0 points and 4.5 rebounds while hitting 72 percent from the field and 60 percent from 3-point range. The No. 25 (Associated Press) ranked Buffaloes continue nonconference action Tuesday night by hosting Milwaukee at 7 p.m. at the CU Events Center.
