ummm, you know this is November, right?
There must be dozens of fans willng to watch that.
It is a terrible idea for the MWC and there is no way that happens in my opinion. The way the MWC is structured now it is far and away a stronger confererence than the WAC. An undefeated MWC champion is basically garanteed a spot in the BCS over an undefeated WAC team due to the strength of schedule the MWC provides. See Boise State/TCU 2009.
Even so, there are MWC expansion rumors starting to gain traction that involve Boise State, Fresno State, and Nevead, making two divisions and a nationally televised championship game. If that happens I think the MWC gets its BCS bid and becomes even more of a player in the national lanscape. Here is a link to a pretty well written article: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/288667-rumor-mill-mwc-to-expand-to-12-receive-auto-bid
Do you get email alerts any time the Mountain Worst is mentioned?

I don't think the Mountain West is so bad...
I look at it as a better conference than the MAC, Sun Belt, Conference USA, and Notre Dame :smile2:
.......as well as the Big Least
I don't think I could go that far....
Pitt
Cincy
UCONN
Rutgers
USF
WVU
Louisville
Syracuse....
certainly could argue that the top teams in each league are similar...
but the bottom & middle teams in the MWC are much worse than the bottom and middle of the Least....
me Likey alot - love to see the Broncos play more MWC teams - that would be huge for those of us in the potato belt
I don't disagree with that and I think that is what the rumored expansion of the MWC would help to address and solidify. Add Boise State, Fresno State, and Nevada and you have a bona fide BCS conference basically in line with the Big East.
All you need is Boise State to the MWC to have a shot at a BCS auto-bid. The other schools are decent, and Fresno can certainly be a competitive team with good fans, but the MWC will only add Boise to help their resume unless Fresno or Nevada gets ranked.
A conference championship game is not a prerequisite to become a BCS auto-bid. It will be based on highest BCS rankings, # of Top 25 teams, and overall rankings for all teams in conference, and possibly how well teams travel to bowl games.
Adding 2 more teams just divides up the spoils more without gaining any more revenue.
I would be fine with adding just Boise State if it led to a bid.
Based on the article it looks like the reasoing behind a Nevada addition would be their strength in basketball, which would help generate revenue for the conference and add a natural rivalry with UNLV in that arena.
Fresno State seems like an obvious television market expansion play for the conference. Add in the fact Fresno State annually boasts good attendance and competetive teams and I would be on board with a move like that.
The rumor up here re BSU and the MWC is that BSU lacks stadium space and the relative weakness of nonfootball sports. With that said BSU has a nationally ranked wrestling program (wrestles in the PAC10) and tennis program and few schools are great at everything. They are adding woman's sports like crazy. I think improving the football schedule by joining the MWC would actually boost fan support up here because the WAC schedule is....well you know.
