Three Scenarios

agree with BuffSurveyor. The question is how does JE find the replacement(s) given he will be in the last year of a 3 year deal and solidly on the hotseat? He'd need to hire the DC from North Dakota State for example....

Bulls**t, money talks. If we're willing to pay, we can land a big name. It's why football wastelands like
Washington State, Arizona, and CSU were able to land big names.

Well none of those schools fire coaches after 1.5 seasons. If we start firing people after 1.5 years they know they have no legit shot at building something and will shy away from this school. Money does talk but 1 year of good salary is not gonna make a good coach come when he knows he will be on the hot seat in 1 year or less. Sorry guys whether or not JE works out we gotta stick with him another year if we want any legit coach to not laugh at us when we come calling. IMO

Under normal circumstances, I totally agree. However, we are, and I mean this literally, historically bad. The level of crap we are seeing is unprecedented. Embree still has 4 games to show enough progress to warrant a 3rd year, but I think if we continue to see the same or worse then he needs to be let go. I don't think any coaching candidate will find exception with that decision based on the national level of perception of Colorado which is that we are an absolute disgrace of a program right now.

Our bigger issue is the perception that CU does not care. Firing a coach after 2 season changes that perception as much or more than announcing the facilities project would.

Fixing CU football doesn't start with replacing Embree. It doesn't start with a facilities announcement.

It starts with the departure of Benson/DiStephano followed by football friendly replacements.

The removal of Embree under the current regime will deliver more of the same ol' same ol'.

Wrong. We gave the last guy at least 1 and probably 2 years longer than he deserved. We need to demonstrate that our admin actually cares about the success of the program. Kansas fired a sh**ty coach after 2 years and managed to land a big name coach so don't tell me we can't. Money talks and if we're willing to spend someone will take this job.

Agreed. There is no logical argument to keeping Embree. The argument of "firing a coach after two years is gonna hurt our chances of getting a real coach" is just BS. Anyone with an ounce of knowledge of football realizes that he has to go. If we don't fire him the day after this 1-11 season ends, a real coach(Belotti) is gonna laugh at us when we approach him because he knows our admin won't help him put a great product on the field.
