I will be there tomorrow and probably Thursday as well.
Did you go to the morning practice saturday?
Did not get a chance. Tomorrow will be my first.
So should I just walk up to everyone and ask them if they post on allbuffs?:smile2:
got asked where I post from some dood who worked for some recruiting service at the first practice. My buddy said rivals and I said Allbuffs. He looked a bit confused
I should be easy to spot because I will be wearing an Auburn hat (do not have a CU hat for whatever reason).
Does the practice start at 9:45 or are they in meetings first?
not wise enough to know. Prob won't get there till 10:30 ish anyways.
Meetings are first, then practice starts at 9:45.
Wanted to go, but I've got a work thing at 9:30. I'm probably not going to make it over until Saturday's scrimmage.
The scrimmage is in Folsom. We should all sit somewhere and argue some football!
i rode my bike past about an hour ago, didn't have time to stop (meeting) but the activity was sounding spirited.
You'll be sitting all alone for a "Saturday scrimmage". CU's is Thursday, 8/13 at Noon in Folsom.
True, but he'll get great seats....
Spirited practice. Some random observations:
-Both Cody and Hansen looked pretty good, Cody looks like a clear leader though. Throwing a very sharp ball.
-Evans is still struggling. Lots of his passes seemed to have a low trajectory today.
-Simmons was still in gym clothes. Bahr was not suited up as well.
-First time I have seen the new WRs in person and those guys definitely pass the eyeball test. Simas and Clemons really stood out to me. Both guys look smooth when running routes. Ussery looked decent as well.
-I think it was Snow who mentioned it the other day, but Darden has a habit of hopping when he catches the ball. Looks a little odd considering his size.
-Lockridge stood out the most amongst the RBs. Caught several passes out of the backfield.
-Saw them running the end-around with Speedy and Lockridge 3-4 times.
-Watched the offensive line and defensive line do some 1 on 1s against each other. Goree and Solder really stood as the two highlights. Dannewitz had a nice play on Beatty as well. The one guy that seemed to struggle a bit was Adkins, up until he made a play at the very end of the drill, prompting Denver Johnson to say something like "Now you look like a real human being"
-Jack Harris is going to be a monster in 2-3 years.
-Did not get to see much of the defense because they were on the far field for the most part. Did hear Polk get complimented a couple times though, I get the feeling he is pushing for early playing time.
-Saw Espinoza, Speedy, Jefferson, and someone else fielding punts.
-Hawk is by far the most vocal position coach. You know where the WRs are at all times because he is constantly yelling.
Forgot to mention saw Chapelle Brown make a couple plays as well.
Also, forgot to add that some guy the two guys nearest to me where Josh Smith was. Uh... what?
adding... rippy did damn well in that 1 on 1 drill. Burned a few.
Cody is far more accurate than anyone else. Hansen still loves to just pull it down and run. Clark... :sad1: His balls dive on anything short or medium.
Simas looks awesome... dammit.
Great run by Scott to end practice. Also speedy had a long TD. It was mostly Cody working with the 1's to end practice.
Looked like Shawn Watson's playbook out there since they aren't running all that much yet .
Pardon? I've read that sentence several times and it still makes no sense whatsoever.
I think he means the guys near him asked him where J-fly was.
Thanks again from an out-of-towner:thumbsup:
that's interesting since in years' past they ran the QB's on the far end (North) of the practice fields.
The guy apparently had not heard Josh Smith was no longer part of the team.
That should read some guy asked the two guys nearest to me where Josh Smith was.
Good report thanks. Simmons still not practicing :sad2:
I read where an Okie Lite recruit is still practicing but has not been cleared by ncaa
T. Boone is picking up his tab :wink2:
It is my understanding that Simmons has been cleared by the ncaa. The issue is getting his transcript to CU so he can officially be admitted by CU. The whole being able to practice for 14 days without being admitted has to do with the ncaa clearinghouse.
Was only there for the last hour. Wish they would have a fan area on the north side so I could check out defense and special teams. Guess that can wait for the scrimmage.
First impressions: The OL is gigantic. Solder and Miller, of course, but Bryce Givens in particular is a physical specimen to behold. Couple that with the runs I saw on a few plays from Speedy in particular, and this rushing attack has all the makings of something really special. Also throws in the paradoxical question of whether the run game is truly spectacular or the run defense is going to be abysmal. Thursday scrimmage should tell more. Quarterback-wise, Cody is extremely vocal out there with the group. Really his father's son. Shows a lot of emotion and I'm getting more confident with him under center this year. Still concerned that some of his passes may graze the helmets of our stable of 6'6"+ linemen in games. Hansen should have the backup role, but I'm beginning to think Lobato's got more of a shot at #3 this year than Evans. I say plan on an Evans redshirt, let him run the scout and burn it if there's a crisis of confidence a la Hansen last year at QB. Slota's passes weren't staying up for long. Hopefully I can get there around the start of Wednesday's practice and try to get a better eye on the D.
I think it was Orms.
Yeah, I finally got up to Boulder yesterday and today.
DiLallo and Grossnickle split punting duties at the end of practice. First time I've seen the freshman do something at practice. (Bad day yesterday.)
But, Grossnickle punted well today. Impressive height and hang time. There was one where Orms (I think it was Orms - they were practicing on the far field from spectators) was just standing below it, looking up and waiting for the ball to come down. Took forever.
Not sure if it's the Nickle's busted arm or what, but Goodman handled all the FGs. Jameson Davis was out there today practicing lightly. Aweida seems to be Goodman's BU and no Mihalcin (pk walkon) in sight.
Agreed on GN punting. Looked WAAYYYY better today. Guess that first college practice unnerved him or something
A guy near me said he probably had to get used to having the weight of the cast on his arm - was throwing off his balance with a couple of extra pounds there, like wearing weights on one wrist when you are playing golf.
Whatever, I was just glad to see him have a good day, whether it was earlier nerves or something else. Matt D. looked okay too, but there were a couple Nickle punts that caught everyone's attention.
