It feels like a lot of people are coming up with a lot of reasons we can't be successful. Starting with that goofball Jesse Palmer.
Our admissions are too high; we can never win.
The administration doesn't like football and wants to see it fail.
There's no in state recruits.
We have no money.
Texas and Oklahoma spend too much money, we can't compete.
We have to schedule unwinnable out of conference games to get fans in the stands.
I say **** all of that. We are not destined to be mediocre at best. There are some things that we have to overcome that some other schools don't, but it's far from impossible. Our fan support isn't that bad, look at Okie State having a boat load of empty seats as they are ranked 12th in their brand new stadium courtesy of their sugar daddy. Schools with high academic standards can't win, what? Northwestern and Stanford are willing to debate that. No in state recruits? States not named: Texas, California, Florida, Ohio, Illinois and Pennsylvania will all agree with you. As for the money, it seems as though we have sold ourselves short on that one as it now seems very likely that the money is in fact there.
Sorry, but I just don't accept that college football has no parity and we can't get ourselves a piece of the action. Have we been great ever since Mac left? No. Rick ****** us and then GB did a decent job, but the scandal hit and recruiting took a nosedive. Scandals don't end college football programs unless they let them. Alabama was very recently in a whole heap of trouble, doesn't look like it's effecting them too much. Granted, we aren't Alabama and never will be, point is they got a good coach in there and he is working wonders. We just need a good coach and we can get back to having 8+ win seasons with regularity.
