It's not pretty. Politics are fucxing it up
Good answers!
We got the death penalty didnt you hear?
It just looks that way.
For the first time I'm beginning to think 'Hawk may have been worse than Ty...
You mean Embre DD? lol
This is going to the politicos forum...
Embree is to Hawkins is what Obama is to Bush, and there's nothing exciting on the horizon...
Something is foul and needs to change, and I mean this with the utmost respect. I want to see CU relevant again and ASAP!
Not going to happen ASAP. Seems everyone wants to start again. So going to have to bring new coaches and system in. then they will have no talent to work with so they have to recruit and start a bunch of freshmen. Then they won't start to be good till their third year. then building off their winns try and bring a better recruiting class in.
My only disagreement is the talent level will be better.
It's going to get better.
No one is saying a coach needs to come in and win the pac-12 in his first season. But there is enough talent on this team to be 3 - 0 right now. And a good coach would have us there.
Dan Hawkins pulled a Chuck Fairbanks and burned our program to the ground. Jon Embree is trying to pull off a Bill Mac and resurrect our program. It took Bill Mac a lot more than 16 games to pull it off. We need to let our young talent develop and Jon Embree will do the same thing down the road.
I know that is hard for the instant gratification fan base here. But honestly, Jon needs more than 16 games, even if it means 0-12 in his second season. He will turn this around.
I would say that's true if the fundamentals are good: coaches work together, players are buying in, team is getting better. I don't know enough to know if any of these are true and don't think Bohn has a clue if they are or aren't. If Embree has lost the players, he needs to go. Maybe Bohn and/or some boosters could find that out.
For the first time?
Les Miles 28-21 first 4 seasons.
Half of internet "Huskies" are/were calling for Sark's head in year 4.
Unfotunately the first few years of a new HC in college don't mean much.
The jury is still out I'm afraid. No arguments either way from me...
I remember Coach Mac's first 3 years. It was as bad as it is now. At one point back to back 1-10 seasons. Gee, i wonder if the fundalmentals were good, or we just didn't have the talent to compete right away? Of course 1-10 back to back speaks of coaching? So fire Mac ass NOW! Huh? Give him some time? Why?
The rest is history and Mac becomes a legend. I don't know if Embree is a coach who can pull that off. But I do know that if the same fans here calling for Jon's head after 16 games, would be the exact same fans calling for Coach Mac's head back in the day. Impatient!
What I do know is that this team is young, 11-12 freshmen in the two deep. I can already tell you the season isn't going to get better simply by firing someone, anyone. History has a funny way of repeating itself. After 4 years, Mac was in serious trouble. We need to let Embree have the opportunity to finish what he starts and that is when every player on the field is his recruit and they aren't freshmen.
Quotes like this crack me up. Instant gratification makes it sound like we have had one losing season. Hey AD plant, how many losing seasons have we actually had?
This fanbase is not looking for instant gratification. We are looking for some ****ing improvement. Can you tell me where we have seen that?
Point taken. And understood.
The problem as I see it, CU can no longer tolerate coaches that can't show a competitive spirit on the field. That much *should* be evident after HWSNBN...
I watched every home game of McCartney's 1-10 season in 1984 (if I remember, there were no away games on TV) and the Buffs at least looked like a competently coached football team. This team makes HWSNBN look like coach of the year. The players demonstrate bad fundamentals. The defensive scheme is a bad joke, and our offensive play calling is just horrendous.
Not to be a dick, but i'm so tired of hearing every single thing around this program compared to Coach Mac. He did a great job, but his turnaround isn't the norm. You don't just blindly hold onto something because someone else in the history of the school was able to get it all worked out.
Pretty sure Coach Mac didn't get trounced by two mountain west teams of questionable talent and one division 2 team at home.
Not only that, but people need to acknowledge that we are in a completely different era. Nearly every game is nationally televised, social media everywhere, and there is the massive recruiting industry machine. There is MUCH better identification of talented players and every major program is recruiting nationally. Not only that but the kids themselves have a lot more access to information on programs and more options on where they want to go play because of all the recruiting exposure. Does anyone really think this staff is going to be able to recruit effectively with no name recognition and coming off a 0 win season. When there are so many big name coaches in the Pac 12? Good luck with that.
I think you're a troll, or else you're Joel Klatt, as there is simply no way anyone could seriously still be making this argument after Fresno led us 55-7 at half and could have scored 125. THE TEAM HAS QUIT. THE STAFF IS IN DISARRAY. WHAT THE **** DON'T YOU GET?
I'm honestly at a loss for words as to how being down 55-7 to Fresno at halftime can't convince you. If I may ask, what exactly would? Do we really need 4 more years of this to make it clear? God help us.
Obviously, the Mac days were a long long time ago and I was much younger so my perspectives have changed. But I remember being hopefull during the early Mac years, even with bad results, there was a sense of getting better. You could see the incremental results... a reason to at least hope for a brighter future.
Maybe it is just because I am old now, but I don't get that sense now. I don't see even incremental improvements; nothing to make me think "the next game is the game" for the turnaround. I am getting nothing from this coaching staff. They aren't giving the fan base any hope for improvement. Actually they are driving us away, some of us from the games themselves and some of us from even caring. When you cause a fan base to stop caring, it is well past time for a change.

Here is Mac's 1 win season from 1984-85
Not a Sac State or any other team from a craptastic conference on the schedule.
4 teams in top 25
Several losses were at least close.
If I was running the show the entire coaching staff would be gone today.
All I was trying to say is that Embree could turn out to be a good HC in a few years. Right now he's not. It's hard to judge after a little more than a season, but this type of loss at the hands of Fresno is unacceptable, I agree.
