Wichita State to AAC?

American Athletic Conference currently has 12 teams for football, but Navy is a football-only member. Conference wants to raise its basketball profile and Wichita State is looking for a better league than the MVC.

SI's Thamel reported this week that it could happen in the next couple months, or be delayed to 1 or 2 years out. AAC's media deal is up in 2020 and they'd want to get something done ahead of those negotiations.

Wichita State and the American Athletic Conference are in serious talks to have the school join the league as a non-football member as early as next fall, a person with direct knowledge of the negotiations said Friday.

This makes too much sense for it not to happen.

This thing's happening fast. This coming season. Easier in hoops, I guess, since schedules are made each year instead of years in advance.

Would love to get a home and home with WSU, especially now.

Take our whooping next year at WSU and then hope you can snipe them at home in 2018.

We play at Xavier next year and I think Iowa in South Dakota (top 100 RPI), plus the Paradise Jam (hopefully we play Wake and Houston). I'm not sure how many top 100/50 teams you want to schedule, especially when you lose four starters.

Yeah but Wichita State is likely to be top 5 team so it wouldn't be terrible for RPI either way. Next year is going to suck so I would rather take it as an opportunity to set up home and homes which are hard to get for some reason. Do we play at UNM next year or at Coors?

The UNM game is at Coors this coming season, then at The Pit in 2018.

RPI isn't likely to matter for the Buffs next year.
