Don't believe allbuffs. Assistant salaries come from a separate fund. I mean we are paying Toby "dickstain" Neinas like a quarter million bucks.

That made me chuckle. Careful, a nickname like that might stick and he could evolve into a fan favorite.

In. Linebacker U is back! We gonna run double bear eagle?

We have met the enemy, and they are ours. - Oliver Hazard Perry

I can't believe all of you AB sailors let that misquote stand in another thread, but I think it's better used in this instance anyway. I guess the defense would lead the nation in smart-assed trash talking.

Guess I want to respond to this after pseudo being called out. Didn't feel like I misquoted, used the variation that played off it. The original refers to a military victory (that the enemy had been conquered) and the latter version refers to society being it's own enemy (originally referring to the environment). I quoted the artist who had the variation.

No slight intended, just thought the later adaptation better fit my post. That said, how you are using Oliver's makes more sense for your post. If me citing the other version offended anyone, my apologies.

I'm not sure what happened with david Gibbs, but it's official on ESPN that he has accepted the Texas tech job.

His team didn't look so great against Pitt. Will be interesting to see if he really is a good defensive coach. Playing baylor, tcu, oklahoma- won't be as easy as his schedule at HoustonHouston. Maybe he will do great. I guess we will find out. I won't be rooting to texas tech. Never saw the red raiders as a serious contender in the big 12.

You posted that from your phone?

Damn.

See I knew we did not want him.

You can use Denver Metro (Denver, Aurora and Lakewood) and 575K in Lubbock is 697,753 in Denver. Spot on buffnik.
Have you ever lived in Lubbock? The $150K loss to live in Colorado would be money well spent. I don't care if you buy a mansion in Lubbock. You still live in Lubbock. I remember the hottest damned summer ever in Lubbock with the sound of cicadas so loud you couldn't hear yourself think and 70 mph winds blowing off the plains sand blasting everything in site and leaving your mouth full of pebbles. I would not live there again. There. I feel better now after getting that off my chest.

I think DBT just had a senior moment and is getting Lubbock confused with the time he spent in the Nile River valley about 4400 years ago.

Real talk doe, anyone know of some other up and coming types? I hate to be all negative and stuff, but Pendergast just seems extremely unlikely at this point, so up and comer it shall be.

Joe Tumpkin got his shot at C Michigan several years ago and has done a great job. In his early 40s.

heh, right after I posted I started scanning that list.

Does SDSU not have a DC? I'm guessing Rocky Long is just their DC?

Temple's DC is like Kent Baer reincarnate. http://www.owlsports.com/coaches.aspx?rc=1261&path=football

nik's suggestion is interesting. His defense finished 1 spot ahead of Utah State's this year. He also has some xp in Texas so you'd think he might help a bit there.

Boston College's DC is interesting. Not sure he'd be down to dip for a lateral move to CU. His D finished 11th last year.

CSU apparently already snagged UCF's DC who finished 5th overall. Those ****ing bastards.

Bowling Green's DC: http://bgsufalcons.com/coaches.aspx?rc=529&path=football finished tied for 4th in turnovers caused. Coached at Baylor so you know he knows Texas, got started in coaching at Kaiser HS in Hawaii so could randomly help there too. From his bio it sounds like his defenses have had a penchant for causing turnovers.

FIU's DC who tied for 4th with Bowling Green, Josh Conklin. http://www.fiusports.com/coaches.aspx?rc=3&path=football more meh on him.

Mike Elko at Wake Forest. Two very good seasons at Bowling Green in 2012-2013 and then solid this year at Wake despite Wake's offense being really bad (bottom five in the country).

Stanford ranking all the more impressive given PAC 12 offensive success.

Doesn't hurt Stanford's defensive efforts that their "O" runs a possession time, old school 3 yds, dust (I mean ground-up tires!) and passes to the TE, type of offense.

Every commentator makes a huge point of that when they play UO.

Todd Orlando to Houston, replacing Gibbs!
There is no question the dominoes have fallen and a move needs to be made ASAP. Still no word on if we have even spoken to Pendergast which seems very odd given he is still out of a job and he was high on our early board. Perhaps he was not interested in us. I assume we have moved on, but to whom we have virtually no idea.

I do think they will get someone good, but the chances of a splash hire seem to be dwindling, unless they really pull a surprise and get someone wanting to do a lateral move for personal reasons.

DAY 15 - THE SEARCH CONTINUES!
Stay tuned

The problem is we have been staying tuned for 2 weeks now and I am losing serious productivity because of it. This is almost as bad as when we were looking for a HC. I have to believe a lot of eyes are on RG right now with the donors he got to help get the facilities done. This is the 1st big hire under his watch if I am not mistaken. It would be so nice to not get an under the radar guy that could be an up and comer b/c they are more risky than a proven commodity, they make less of a splash and I am freakin tired of everything at CU being under the radar.

Imagine the attention within the fb world we would get if we could get someone like Pendergast, or perhaps an ex NFL head coach who has tons of experience as a DC...

Michigan State's D'Antonio plans to hire a DC (another open position) with "front 7" experience so that he can hire a dedicated Special Teams coach.... some of you guys will love that.
