**** yes. This building is going to be such a slingshot for our program. Can't wait to see the finished product!
If we want it to be consistent with the rest of the facility we just need to add some peeling paint and some rust stains. Maybe a leaky pipe or two and some 25watt lighting.
As others have expressed I am very happy that we are seeing the upgrades we are getting, they at a minimum get us back into the race though certainly not close to the lead.
With that in mind I hope that one of the upcoming priorities will be to do some long overdue maintenance and basic modernization of the existing facility.

The bolded remark pisses me off :smile2:. You don't know your statement is true.
No it isn't because facilities are only part of the equation. Therefore it is difficult if not possible to quantify the impact of facilities on the end result.
That is a bold statement Tini. I can see top half of the conference, but second to Oregon's facilities would discard progress that the rest of the P12 has done or started since 2012.

It's not a statement, it's a damn fact. One of the perks of being last, you can take the best ideas while the other idiots (*cough*Cal*cough*) get stuck with the stupid ish no one needs or uses.

If the rest of Folsom got a facelift I'd be more inclined to agree. Walking around during the Spring game you realize it is really showing its age. Was at the remodeled Husky Stadium last year, it is soooo much nicer. As far as player amenities though seems like we are shooting for at least par with recent upgrades elsewhere other than USC and ORE...
Remodeled is an understatement. They imploded the old stadium and rebuilt.
The stuff they are building is state of the art, no question.
As others have mentioned though the rest of the facilities that haven't been addressed yet lag well behind most of our conference mates.
Folsom could be a showplace. Who else has the views, the historic blended with the modern, the intimate feel, the flagstone, and the general blending in with the campus and the valley.
Problem is that it has been neglected. The rust all over the place, the cheap looking walls on the concourses that look temporary but have been there for a long time, the bathrooms that would embarrass a forest service campground, old concrete tunnels with poor lighting, concession limitations, drinking water out of a garden hose, security gates that are slow and a hassle for most fans and an abomination for students, and on.
Also our IPF is going to be spectacular but or outdoor practice facilities could still use some upgrading.
Now to DBTs point with competitive facilities our campus should be winning us some recruits. Unlike the Big XII, the PAC has some really nice campuses but Boulder is still magical.
What we have done is a huge step towards catching up but don't forget that we are overcoming at least 20 years of neglect. The other schools aren't standing still. We can't finish this, sit back, and say we are set for the next 20-30 years.

I think the point is that we are now on at least a level playing field with facilities. Facilities are no longer a determent and can no longer be held against us. Now we have to win because lack of winning can and will be used against us. At least now recruits know we are serious.
These facilities are going to be nice, top 1/3 of the conference. Nik has said it before, and I agree.... CU doesn't need the best facilities, we just need facilities that are good enough that they can't be considered a negative. That is where we are going.

I am not as worried about the stadium itself as much as the facilities the players use and are in every day. There are a bunch of stadiums across the nation that are just like Folsom. Wasn't there an article saying Michigan has one of the worst stadiums in the nation but have top notch facilities. I hope They remodel the west side and boost seating to around 60,000 but it isn't that big of a deal IMO.

Folsom does need a remodel. Balch, bathrooms, concessions, etc. but as far as recruiting goes it is very negligible. Few recruits are going to go somewhere else because there is rust on some signs in the stadium or ****ty bathrooms, it'll be because of the training facility and coaching staff.
I'll be interested to see what RG does next. The West side is missing out on a lot of potential revenue, but the CEC also needs improvements.
Would love to see them start doing some renovation of the street side of the stadium. Open up some sections for retail or restaurant would be some pretty cool alternate sources of revenue. Although, Folsom could use a fresh coat of paint and be serviceable for a little while. That would allow RG to focus on CEC.
