Official CU at Oregon State Game thread

Crying for beating a team that has 2 wins? A good win? That was a terrible team they squeaked by! Look, we ALL want big wins, bowl games and even more National Championships. But when your coach is crying because they beat a terrible two-win team, who has a new coach and mostly freshman playing, there are deep issues. I am happy the Buffs won!!! But let's be realistic here!

Hooray tonight... Same issues exist tomorrow. The Buffs were supposed to win this game. If they did not, it may have been possible for HCMM to be fired this week. I don't see much improvement this week over last - in fact, winning in this fashion, with so many penalties, questionable offensive calls, this is probably a step back from last week - just a significantly weaker opponent. Perhaps tears of joy because his job is safe thru the end of the season? He has exactly 5 wins against D1 level teams in 32 games. Those five teams: CSU (twice), a bad Hawaii team, a bad Cal team and a bad Oregon State team. Nope, nothing to jump up and down about by winning a game you are absolutely suppose to win.
A WIN IS A WIN IS A WIN IS A WIN IS A WIN IS A WIN

Dense. He's emotional because of the ridiculous amount of time and energy put into this team and he finally got two big monkeys off his back, not because he thinks this was some epic win over a good team. Supposed to win? They were actually underdogs. Your post sucks giant balls.

You go ahead and stick with 5 win Mike! I am not sold by an OSU victory

Understand, but you've got to win games you should win, and that hasn't been happening. It was a tight game, the conclusion was in doubt, crying is stress relief. When you've got pressures on every side, including no doubt internal, it happens. Now if he cries after the next win, I'd suggest stress therapy.

Seriously. **** off.

Nobody is happy with the way things have gone, but we won a Pac-12 road game tonight and that's really all that matters right now. If you can't enjoy that, I feel sorry for you.

Enjoy a ****ing win.

Again, not sold. If this was a victory against a power or legitimate team in the conference, I would be posting rainbows and gold stars. But that wasn't the case was it? You enjoy a win against one of the worst teams in D1 football. I still expect better quality football from the HC and team.

If you want a cookie, I will say, 4 wins is better than 2 from last year. (y)

13 points. They gave up some plays they probably shouldn't have and tackling is still suspect but... 13 points... On the road.

Exactly. Not going to pretend Oregon State is a great offensive team, but the defense held several times tonight. Giving up 13 points on the road in conference is a good day, no matter what.

I'll type slowly so that you might understand.

The... Buffs... won... tonight.

We... like... to... celebrate... when... that... happens.

Winning... is... fun.

This... is... all... that... matters... tonight.

Who here is posting rainbows and gold stars? Everyone here knows who we beat and what the next 5 games will bring , we are celebrating a pac 12 win, rare the last
5 years. Thats all.

OSU is bad in the PAC, but they would beat half the ACC. They were also playing at 200% this game. Anderson prepared his @$$ off with that 2 QB scheme. Mitchell significantly improved OSU. Before him the OSU offense was the Seth Collins show. This was a good road win.

Wins are good. D was very gutty!

Gretch was impressed at the reduction in my "in game profanity", me too ;)

Tough road ahead, but a win is a win.

Go Buffs

Sad but true. OSU would struggle in the ACC, but they'd manage something like 4-8 (2-6) or 5-7 (3-5). Imagine a conference schedule with 3-5 Wake Forest, 3-5 Boston College, 3-4 Syracuse, 2-5 Virginia along with opponents like 3-5 VT, 3-4 Louisville, etc. on deck. It's a league where you can put together a weak OOC and go bowling without blinking. NCSU is a poster child for that -- already 5-2 and making bowl plans. A league where Pitt, Duke and North Carolina all sit 6-1. I love the Pac, but sometimes I do think it would be nice for the Pac to suck for a season just to ensure ending this godforsaken bowl drought.

My thoughts on this (Yes, I'm gonna nitpick a little.....but hopefully its nothing too ridiculous)

Was this ugly? Absolutely. It usually is when you've got an 800 pound gorilla you're trying to get off your back.
Defense comes through, again. We won the turnover battle, and Leavitt figured out Nick Mitchell as the game went on (seemed like he brought it when he saw the kid in the gun consistently). This unit has exceeded my expectations-they were giving up 27 (32 if you exclude the Nicholls game) coming into tonight, and that number will be lowered. Would have liked to have seen the offense get another score to finish them off (part of that was Kalani Sitake.....who is doing a good job with not much talent), and I hated that call on 3rd and 1. Not sure if Sefo gets the first with a sneak, but I for one can live with getting beat at the line if we sneak. Not happy with a call that makes it more difficult to convert. I don't love running Sefo-Go back to the Nicholls game for a second. Playing Sefo into the 2nd half in a game that was over midway through the first quarter means he can't miss games. Granted, some of that was him scrambling, but still.

A couple more points-I've bashed the coaches regularly of late-but the conversations about MM's job security are pointless now. He'll be here next year, and he should be. The only thing that was fanning that flame in my opinion was the possibility of another 0-9 season in conference.

Kids earned a W.

There were plenty of things I didn't like. Everybody here knows we lack talent in several positions but the D did step up when it had to. Besides, it's not all a talent problem, it's mental too. Saying that, these guys deserve to feel good about the win and it was a hurdle they needed to get past. Im just gonna enjoy it. Anybody can lose, you gotta learn how to win. Let's hope we took a step in that direction tonight. Night fellas.
