Official 2016 Coaching Carousel

Hmm

When/if Oregon opens, the expectation is that Western Michigan’s P.J. Fleck and Boise State’s Bryan Harsin would both be prime candidates. But don’t be surprised if Oregon pursues splashier names such as Penn State’s James Franklin and North Carolina’s Larry Fedora, who are both at Nike-affiliated schools. There also are whispers that Florida’s Jim McElwain could be intrigued by the opportunity to return to the Pacific Northwest, close to where he went to college and started his coaching career at Eastern Washington. Despite winning SEC East titles in his first two years, McElwain has been a bit under-appreciated by the Florida fan base and just got a new athletics director in Gainesville.

I saw that but seems like people are just looking for random fits to come to Oregon. I don't see a coach leaving Florida right now, especially considering how bad that division is.

That is not a very coveted job. FAU job is behind UF, FSU, the U, UCF, USF, and FIU. Zero fan support and Boca Raton (aka Silicon Valley) is culturally a world away from Tampa where Leavitt used to coach. Further, I personally doubt Leavitt is interested in a stepping stone job into the P5. At his age, FAU is where you go to retire, like Howard Schnellenberger did.

This.

OMG - that would be amazing. McElwain is such a goober - it would be hilarious to see him at Nike U.

Good luck to him, I don't hold any ill will towards the guy - he was a bad coach here, but he seemed like a decent enough guy.
I hold a ton of ill will towards the guy. He's a complete fraud and he set back Colorado football ten years. I wish nothing but the worst for him. Maybe he will do fine at a place that will put up with his bull****.

San Jose State: SJSU has “reached out to” former Fresno State head coach Pat Hill according to Pete Thamel of SI.

I think that would be an excellent hire to get things back on track out there.

I have to wonder if Mike Gundy is finally ready to jump ship. If he loses to Oklahoma this weekend, can he really take Okie Lite any higher?

He's spent the better part of 2 decades at the school.

If the info is true that he and the AD and THE booster are having occasional marital spats, he might finally be ready for a change of scenery.

He was so close to leaving for Tennessee a while ago, he may get only so more opportunities.

I'm envisioning what's left of the bailer brain trust sitting around a conference table asking each other what the Hell is going on and why can't they hire a new coach? Self awareness is not a commodity they possess in large quantities.
