Official D coordinator search thread (DJ Eliot hired?)

Chev might take offense to being "mentored" and MM focusing on the D not sure about that either>? Brings up a good point though...There are lots of Head Coaches that do call the D or the O.

My thought was bringing in a guy like Briles (but not necessarily him) who is looking for a few a HC job, but may have to become coordinator for a year or two first. Chev needs some experience.

Can you imagine the ****storm if Art Briles landed in Boulder?

They need to leave the offensive coaches alone except Bernardi. Hire a top notch D coordinator and DB coach. I was on the promote Tumpkin bus, until the **** show in the alamo

You're gonna judge him on a game where the offense didn't show up and the secondary was hobbled. Seems fair.

Not saying that he should or shouldn't be the D coordinator but using that game as a measuring stick is short sighted.

Art Briles is the most toxic name in college football right now.

that why i was careful to say 'like Briles (but not necessarily him).' Nonetheless, MM rehabilitated the reputation of one toxic coach.

Chip Kelly is out of work, maybe he'd like to rehabilitate himself at dear old CU. Or maybe Kubiak would do it if he didn't have to travel to away games or recruit. The possibilities are endless!!

How about Tracy Claeys? He is a solid DC. But, does his involvement in the Minnesota sexual harassment/boycott debacle rule him out to be on the staff?

To be clear Diaco, Rodgers, Derutyer are my top three. There are other names out there and available.
Dewayne Walker was a hot name DC a while back at UCLA and then went into the abyss that is NMSU. He has been with the Jaguars, but is available now.

Fine by me, Leavitt was pretty strange himself, so long as he gives us a quality defense he can say all the weird **** he wants.

I also love Hagan, but if we don't get more production from the RB's next season he might need to go. Don't beat me up now. I Love Hagan but this is big boy football. All coaches need to pull their weight.
Running backs need several things to work in order to produce. First, they need the ball. I'm not seeing a commitment to the running game that would allow for 30-35 carries per game from the running backs. Second, they need blocking. Hand the ball off 100 times to Barry Sanders and without at least a little blocking, he goes nowhere.
Both of those things were absent in 2016. We didn't give the ball to the backs very much and we didn't have good blocking schemes to run the ball when we did. It was like the running game was an afterthought. It's hard to put too much of the blame on Hagan for that. I thought he did a pretty good job, actually. Once Lindsay was the obvious leader, he got the ball most of the time.

I'm so glad we are in charge of the football team.
This is a good idea. Instead of hiring a DC fans can get an app and vote on the play call. Kind of like real life madden. We all know so much it has to be better than any DC we could possibly hire.

You might be on to something here. They should sit up the spring game in a format that can be controlled by Twitch. I am sure we would get a lot done.
