CU officially hires Mel Tucker as new Head Football Coach

"I want to make sure that we're massive on the offensive and defensive lines."

Said that CU isn't the type of place that needs to load up on JUCOs, but that we will make JUCO recruiting a part of things.

I just texted my husband that this is a horrible version of Paul Finebaum's show. Jeez.... we need some Allbuffers to call in.

This old lady did crack me up though....

Asked about scheme.

"My philosophy in football is 'do what your players can do'."

Mel's definitely a guy who believes in Jimmies and Joes. Sounds like he's all about being physically dominant in the trenches, recruiting for speed, and then what your skill guys do well is going to determine the types of plays you call.

"Meat and potatoes program. Won't be a lot of French pastry."

2nd time I've heard him use that line now.

He just gets it. Plain and simple. Guy has been around championship programs and championship coaches, he knows that forcing a scheme on players that aren't a good fit will never work out. Love this guy.

"I think we'll be competitive this season. I don't see any reason why we wouldn't be. There won't be any self-imposed limitations."

Another reason why I have a MT man crush.
He does not make excuses.
He does not condone excuses.
He does not create mental barriers to success.

MT is a positive thinker. It’s not in a new agey type of way. It is in the there is no other option but to succeed type of way.
