CU Buffs hire former Minnesota OC Mike Sanford as their new OC

I made fun of this guy when he posted, but honestly **** it. The gap between the haves and the have nots is wider than ever and there is no denying CU is a have not. We are setting up to have some of the darkest years in the history of CU football. Turn Folsom into a soccer stadium. And I ****ing hate soccer. I just can't care about this football team anymore.

Remember when we said that if we had even a mediocre offense, we would have won at least three more games this year?

I feel as though Sanford gives a chance to achieve a mediocre offense.

Yes, He has made a career of taking high-powered offenses and making them incrementally worse. BUT...we haven't seen what he can do when he inherits a horribly undercoached offense.

So we’re hoping he’s consistently mediocre?

That was before we realized the defense was also not very good.

For anyone who doesn't think Marion would have been worth the risk, please watch this entire interview and then we'll talk.

Dude is a savant and legit one of the more underappreciated offensive minds in the game. What became very clear from researching him: many of the cool kid/big name/hip offensive coaches run a bunch of his plays in big spots. If this smoke about Marion wanting the job and being passed over for a below mediocre young retread is true, that should be nail in the coffin stuff for support of Dorrell and George.

Frankly, I don't get the negativity.

This should clearly be a solid step up from Chev. If it's not, I'll be damn surprised.

CU is not a good program. The first step to getting better is getting to be a consistent bowl team. Winning will improve recruiting, and draw better assistant coaches into the fold.

I'd be happy if, over the next decade, CU averages 6-8 wins per regular season, and at least plays in a couple Pac 12 championship games.

It seems to be the consensus, at least amongst realists here, that we would all be pretty happy with that. I don't see anything about this hire that is incompatible with that benchmark.

He makes offenses worse. We were one of the worst offenses in college football last season. You don’t get the negativity?! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I get some of it, but people are absolutely overreacting.

You can point out patterns and trends all you want, but the sample size is small, the guy is still young, and at any rate, I believe he'll be a big step up over Chev.

How often do you see coaches that are amazing at one place go on to suck somewhere else??

Success/Failure is not as easy to predict as we like to pretend it is. The program is in a bad state and piling on the negativity in regards to a guy who hasn't even coached a game here yet is pointless.
