Yes I did. Grades weren't good enough for CU in high school and I had no interest in a 5 year sentence in Fort Collins.....so Stinkville it was. Vic is still a dumbass though.

Last post on this. California’s budget is volatile because it has a flawed tax system. It is too reliant on the income tax and does not collect enough property tax due to the passage of Proposition 13 in 1978. That leads to large surpluses in times of economic expansion and deficits in times of contraction. In an ideal world, California would collect more property tax and less income tax.
CA has one of the strongest economies in the world. That was my only point when I chimed in.
For the purposes of this discussion and since the Big 12 is an option, TX also has one of the strongest economies in the world.
My politics on this are similar to what I often say about the state of Colorado - both Colorado Springs and Boulder are wonderful cities with great opportunities and lifestyle. What's great about America is we get to pick what suits ourselves best.
And on that note and cultural fit for CU, we're the state that offers a blend of the TX and CA sensibilities. So on that front, I believe our best option is to figure out a conference affiliation which includes both CA/Pacific membership and TX/Southwest membership with a few Mountain/Frontier partners. That's who we are and on the economic values, it represents the most population & economic growth in the US.

I think I've settled on the Big 12 as the move I'd like for CU, and I honestly don't even care if any of the Pac10 programs follow (in fact, outside of Oregon and Washington, it's probably better that none do). The money is almost assuredly going to be better than any of the other options that involve staying in the Pac 10, and the week to week inventory is so much better than what the Pac 10 has to offer.
Thinking back to my viewing habits over the last few years, I can't really think of a time where I chose to watch a middling Pac 12 conference game like ASU vs UCLA or Stanford vs WSU over a middling B1G, SEC, and yes, Big 12 game. I'm sure some of it has to do with the awful production quality on Pac12N, but there just isn't a ton of appeal to most Pac 10 programs, IMO. Even rivalries like ASU vs UA, Stanford vs Cal, Oregon v Oregon State, WSU vs UW just don't carry much appeal to me, and I think if most people here are being objective, they'd agree.
I look at the future Big 12 and see a relatively strong conference, pretty much top to bottom, that seems fun to watch. If the two conferences stay the same as they currently are (P10 and Big 12 with the 4 new members), which game are you more likely to tune into: Cincinnati vs Iowa State or ASU vs Stanford? The former is the no brainer choice, IMO, and outside of a combination of Utah/Oregon/UW on the P10 side and a combination of KU/KSU on the B12 side, I struggle to think of a conference matchup that's hands down more interesting on the Pac 10 side.
All that said, I think the best of both worlds would be CU, Utah, Oregon and Washington joining the Big 12 to make the Big 16 and clear #3 conference. Arizona and ASU can come along, but in my scenario, I'd rather it just be the 2 MTZ and 2 PTZ programs.

Hey man, there are plenty of people in the Bay Area that like wine, cheese and football. True, not as many that are following the Warriors summer league, but this is a huge, sprawling, economic engine of an area.
There are lots and lots of wealthy alumni and we recruit pretty well here with some decent players (Bakhtiari, Landman, etc.). I don't get the desire to run back to the farm schools, even if the payout is comparable. Our school, students, and alumni have always skewed West in culture IMO. I realize that means our entire identity is not tied to college football, but life is complex and that is also fun!

Makes no sense why Pac/b12/ACC don’t join forces, or at least 2 of the 3.
Can be a strong #3 and challenge 1 & 2, or be weak and hope someday Big10 or SEC calls you up (but they won’t for 90%).
