#Fire Coach Dorrell

There must be some kind of reality distortion field at the Champions Center, because it is now 1:15 p.m. mountain time and Dorrell is still not fired. I guess RG and the rest have their heads so far up their asses that they think that KD can turn this around. If they don't fire him now my gut tells me that they don't fire him any time this or next year either. I guess they really are that clueless and incompetent.

I'm hoping that KD is in RG's office now and RG says take a lower payout and say he's "resigning" for the good of the team and the school. Or get summarily fired and lose more face.
Chances of Dorrell agreeing to a negotiated buyout are not anywhere near certain, but more probable than not.

Chances of Dorrell resigning like Gary Anderson are not zero, but very, very, very unlikely.
For his own sake Dorrell may be disposed to resigning for a reduced payout but there is absolutely no incentive other than his own self-image to take anything less that the full payout.

He's done with coaching and ready to retire, by all indications he has already mentally retired and just goes through the motions here to keep the checks flowing.

He does have a contractual obligation to seek another job to offset the contractual obligation but that's an easy one. It's very easy for him to submit his name for a number of jobs that he isn't going to get. Apply for head coaching jobs at P5 schools, don't get called back. Apply for NFL coordinator jobs, don't get called back. Obligation fulfilled. As bad as he has been here nobody is going to hire him and if he somehow were to get an interview he could tell the truth, say that he is running out the string, and not get hired.

Even second that goes by I get more and more pissed off that they have not fired KD, and I thought I reached maximum pissed off some time ago. I guess there really is no maximum.

Fun fact: We gave up over 330 yards rushing yesterday and that lowered our average.

I think there is some evidence that we may not be a good football team.
Is it even accurate to refer to them as a team. A team is two or more individuals working together to achieve a common goal.

I have seen very little actual working together and they certainly don't appear to have any kind of common goal.

Maybe we should call them a football grouping.

As much as Dorrell deserves to be fired - who on earth would you replace him with on the current staff?

No one from current staff.

BUT…. Gary Barnett. I imagine he may be willing interim coach for the rest of the season? - just to oversee the team and provide some leadership at the top. I know some people won’t like the suggestion but he obviously knows the players and team from what he’s doing for radio and he’s led us before.

Could he provide some stability while we find a new coach? I say yes.

That would probably work if it was just for a bowl game or something. But you're asking him to coach the team for 9 games.

Phil McGeoghan for interim. After the staff and AD are cleaned up, you move Hagen into LC's old spot but without any say on coaching decisions.

Oh good grief please stop. I appreciate Barnett but a 76 year old who has not coached at any level in 17 years isn’t the answer.

Would you rather have one of the current coaching staff step in? GB knows his stuff. He hasn’t retired- he’s still active covering the Buffs. Not asking him to do all the work a Hc would, but the guy is someone who we respect and earned thst respect here.

Respect from you and me but the players? Most of them were in diapers when he coached last.

What would he do differently than anyone on staff as interim coach? The season is lost and who heads the team for the rest of the year is largely irrelevant. Firing KD (again, I don’t think this is happening) is the only step that matters but not because of the current season

gary said he wouldn’t touch the HC Or AD jobs with a 10 foot pole. It’s beyond toxic.
