I know we recruited out of HS but other than that is there any reason to believe he'd end up at CU?

To-ny Cle-mons *clap clap clap clap clap*
Seriously, though, anyone know if these guys are talking?
That's gotta be some kind of violation, yes?
The kids can talk all they want as long as they are not representing the university or speaking for the university. There would be no way to control phone calls and text messages between guys who know each other from HS or from the all-star games, etc.
Before anyone gets too excited... Brandon Smith has not asked for or been released from Michigan yet.
holy balls epic
Before anyone gets too excited...
Players and even average everyday people who knew each other before the player was recruited or signed an LOI anywhere can speak/text/email whenever they want. If you live next door to Mike Bohn, or Matt Barkley for that matter, went to high school with a guy, you are allowed to continue the relationship as you see fit. Teachers, neighbors, friends, family and friends of family can continue to have contact with players.
So what you're saying is that cheerleaders going down the road for the school is a violation, but a player doesn't necessarily represent? Sounds like a freebie to USC and violation for us.
Players who know each other can maintain that friendship, whether they met at a Nike Combine, went to high school together or another way. A current player should not "cold call" a recruit who he has never met, but if they have already established an acquaintance, they can stay in contact.Q: Is it permissible to contact a prospective student-athlete or his/her parents or legal guardians?
No. An athletic representative may not contact a prospect or his/her parents in person, by telephone or in writing. Contact may not be made with a prospect or his/her parents on or off the CU campus.
Established family friends
Q: Is this contact rule applicable to "established family friends" or neighbors?
No. However, it must be understood that such contacts cannot be made for recruiting purposes and cannot be initiated or arranged by the CU coaching staff members. In addition, the established relationship must have occurred prior to the friend or neighbor becoming a prospect.
No, I said if the player knew someone BEFORE he was a recruit, they can jointly maintain the relationship.
Here's the CU compliance version:

I'm a little confused here. The kid's vitals list a 4.5 40 yet the blogger says he wasn't fast enough to be a safety.
