From Rivals on Jan 6, 2011: Colorado junior has game

Scott has already taken unofficial visits to Colorado, Northern Colorado and Denver. The Class of 2012 prospect is also familiar with Air Force, as both of his parents graduated from the Academy.

"He has been to CU quite a few times. He would like to be a part of their program and they like him a lot," McKinstry said. "So I know there is some strong interest there and he really likes [head] coach [Tad] Boyle an awful lot, but who knows. It is early in the process. We'll see what develops."

Scott is averaging 20 points, 11 rebounds and three-and-a-half blocks eight games into his junior campaign. He is close to 100 percent after undergoing foot surgery last summer. [reason he did not play AAU and his recruiting was slowed - buffnik]

"What I like about Josh's game is he runs the floor very well, he is pretty athletic and he is pretty light on his feet," McKinstry said. "He has a good wing span, good length to him. He is very, very good with his left hand even though he is right handed.

There's a lot more to that article that talks about the other programs recruiting him, his defensive ability and the prospects from his younger brother Jordan (a 2013 prospect).

Interesting that MaxPreps has at least some level of evaluation on him, but not the "big 3". I wonder when they'll get around to it?

Good article. Josh is dominating competition this year, but when he played the bigger schools (Broomfield, Boulder, etc), he did not do as well. If he's being compared to Garrity by the same coach...great (I personally think that's BS - Garrity was great). His brother seems like he could be a legit player too.

If they keep developing, both Scott kids could be worthy of a scholarship. Right now though, they seem like they need more development - I would take Allen and Christiansen over Scott.

Not trying to knock the kid, but seems like a stretch. This sort of reminds me of Jonathan Sanders, who dominated competition at Bellevue Christian, but simply put, wasn't good enough against top competition.

New Rivals article on Josh: http://colorado.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1186749

Scott has been averaging 22 points, 11 rebounds, four blocks and two-and-a-half steals per game while helping Lewis-Palmer to a 17-2 record this winter. The Rangers are ranked No. 2 in 4A.

"I can use both hands and I am good at going one-on-one from the post or even from the outside," Scott said. "I worked on my jump shot a lot and right now I am shooting mid-range jumpers and making them. This upcoming summer, I want to get a three-point jump shot."

Colorado, Colorado State, Denver, Northern Colorado, Wake Forest, UNLV, Boise State, Stanford, San Francisco and TCU have all shown serious interest in Scott in recent weeks.

This one should be interesting. I'd really like to keep Scott home if he's good enough to play for some of programs on that list such as UNLV and Wake Forest. In Tad I trust.

Scott has to be a second option in my opinion. Boyle's the coach so it's his call obviously...and I of course wish the best for Scott...but I think we need to go after higher caliber of players.

Boyle recently received a verbal committment from Josh Scott, a 6-8 junior from Palmer-Ridge High School in Colorado Springs.

Scott, who will be a member of the 2012 recruiting class, is averaging 25.9 points and 11.3 rebounds this season.

...and this is the reason why I'm torn on this one. I'm not trying to put Josh down here, but I just feel like he needed to prove himself a little more before the offer. He's rail thin, and plays in a rather weak conference/classification. I hope Boyle is right on this one, because we need some beef up front. Matt Christiansen looks like a great guy to be really targeting. One interesting thing though is how his little brother develops.

I was trying to keep an eye on Christiansen. Several games late in the season he didn't seem to dominate, like you'd expect. Not sure where he's headed, but I think this offer/verbal may spell the end of Matt's recruitment to CU. I may be wrong, but just a hunch.

I was at the Monarch - Palmer game last week and there wasn't anybody 6'8" in the entire gym. My bad, I didn't realize there is a Palmer and a Palmer -Ridge down there.

Well, that would be the third possible Palmer that we could be talking about. This is definitely one of the two in Monument, not the alma mater of Bobby Purify...

The kid can grow some more before coming to Boulder. Plus like in football, is the PAC-12 going to be more athletic than physical just like the Big 12 and Big Ten? Remember we are recruiting for a different conference.

    He plays for Lewis-Palmer.

The opening profile and all the above links agree on this. But maybe the new Rivals interview with Scott's coach will help end the confusion:

"He really liked [Colorado head] coach Tad Boyle and his staff. They were very visible and charismatic," Lewis-Palmer head coach Russ McKinstry said. "And he likes a lot of what he sees from what the Buffs are doing on the court, too. He has been up to watch a few games. It just made sense to him to go there.

"Josh is a Colorado kid, likes Boulder a lot, likes the direction of the program and like I said, he likes their coaching staff so when CU offered him, he thought it over for a couple days and decided, 'Hey, there is no place else I want to go'. So he decided to commit."

Disregard my earlier post regarding this commitment and Matt Christiansen. For some reason, I was thinking both were 2011 recruits.

Welcome young mr Scott!!! Nice to have you aboard.

Lewis-Palmer and Palmer Ridge are both located in Monument (17 miles north of Colorado Springs). Palmer HS (home of Bobby Purify) is in Colorado Springs.

I wonder what else the folks at Scout get wrong...............................
"The state of Colorado produces only a few players each year with the talent to play at the highest level of college basketball. Colorado coach Tad Nelson nabbed his first recruit from the state and his first of the 2012 class. Josh Scott also fills a desperate need in Boulder for size and athleticism as well."

    Leave it to scout......

Remember that Burks wasn't recruited heavily by kanzass and mizzery, through his soph/jr seasons. He then blossomed in his senior year, after he committed to CU. I hope this guy turns out to be similar.

At UNC Boyle recruited guys that fit his system and develop them over 4 years. Hard to argue with the results the Bears are having now. Scott seems to fit into this mold. Of course he's only a high school junior so who knows, he may bust out like Burks did his senior year. What I like best he's 6'9" 200lbs, and he's only a junior. He might not be done growing. Be interesting to see how AAU ball goes for him this summer.
