Thought we were only taking one TE?

Mundt looks like more of the blocking TE type. He could transition to DE or maybe really bulk up and play OT. Who knows. Parson's job isn't threatened if he signs.

Sure seems like we are targeting two tight ends in this class.

For the record, I like us going after more than one TE in this class. We need more athletes with length and Mundt fits the bill at over 6-4, plus running in the mid-4.7 range is pretty good too.

With all these teams running and preparing for the spead offenses I wonder how many defenses would be totally lost trying to stop a quality two TE offense than can both run and pass out of it?

Football tends way to often to be a giant game of follow the leader. Right now the "leaders" are running multiple WR spread offenses. Trouble is that unless you are the leader you are going to be behind.

I love the idea of Embree and E.B. being able to run multiple TEs at people and make they adjust. This kid looks like one of those guys who leaves the defense wondering, is he coming of the line to block me or is he going to go by me in a pass route. He's physical enough and athletic enough to be good at both.

With this offense, I think its more than fine to get another TE. Watching Stanford and even Boise, I know they are a bit different than Stanford, they have several TE's that contribute. Matter of fact, those two might use the TE position better than anybody else in college football. They have different types of TE's as well, maybe thats the goal here. Mtn touched on what Im saying more or less.

Something that we haven't discussed enough when we have talked about the vision for our "pro style" offense is that it could very well be based as much in the systems developed by Don Coryell & Joe Gibbs (TE + H-Back sets instead of using a FB to give a power running game).

From what I'm seeing, it looks like we're combining elements of the Coryell-Gibbs "Ace" offense with elements of the Walsh-Shannahan "West Coast" offense. For those of you who are too young to remember the Air Coryell teams or Gibbs' Superbowl Redskins teams, you should be familiar with the Ace from playing EASports football games.

I see a quick TE with good hands. He can block but I dont see someone who is going to transition into an OT. My understanding is that Embree wanted to run dual TE packages. No harm in recruiting multiple TE. Also hadnt heard that Parsons has already earned the starting job. To be honest I didnt like Mundt's film until I realized it was his sophomore year. His junior year film looks really good. This would be a good pick up for us.

Having a really great tight end can be the difference in 3-4 games per year. Most college defenses simply aren't equipped to defend the tight end. A TE with 4.7 speed? Yes, please.

First thing I saw in the film, defenders do not want to hit him. at 6-4 235lbs I am guessing it feels like trying to stop a big rig. That is the kind of punishment we need. After recently seeing those highlights from that glorious husker beatdown again that was something I noticed from that game. By the end the Nubs defense did not want to get in the way of Brown and Purify. TE's like this guy deal out some punishment on the back 7. With pow pow and payne lighting up the D-Line and Parson and Mundt drilling the back 7 we could actually start to deal some punishment. Like the offer, would love to pick him up.

Wow! Those are pretty glowing comments considering this was an interview for Stanford's site. I like our chances. I also really like Mundt. Adding him to Parsons, Hobbs, Ray, and Irwin would really make for a solid group of young TE's.

He's got talent but I am happy with our TE for this class anyway. Given how small our class is this year compared to last, and we already have a 4* TE and an in-state kid too (more likely to stay the 4-5 yrs), I am good. Let's go get some LBs.

This fight may not be over. Oregon's got sanctions and I doubt Embo gives up that easily.

Yeah, who wants a TE who has more P12 offers than the rest of our class combined? Overkill...

I am pretty sure he has already been told about impending Oregon sanctions by every other team recruiting him so I doubt that would be the reason for a flip in commitment.

I would prefer to see this guy at LB given his nasty streak, but if Chip thinks he will be a better TE then I wont disagree.
