Risner was an all-state selection as a junior at the 1A level. He is getting some attention from big-time schools:

HCMM needs to get on this. If his commitment to recruit the whole state at all levels is genuine, then rolling out the red carpet for Risner would be proof of that.

Stands up too quickly but that's just technique and can be fixed easily. I think he could be like Nate Solder in the way of a small school kid that can end up being a really good player.

The Stanford visit reminded me of 2010 Wiggins heavyweight wrestler Kyle Pollack who had a scholly to the 'furd - he's not listed on their current roster though. There was talk of him switching to football before he went, but he's not on that roster either. Maybe an injury finished him, but it seems likely he's the connection to this kid's first visit, Wiggins is very small. Would be nice to see him on the field as a Buff.

Intersetingly, at a school known for wrestling (lots of individual and team state champs), big man Risner... plays baketball?

CSU offered, and seems like a likely landing spot for him

Nice locker room. Looks like the "cubbies" my elementary school had. Risner actually sounded open to all programs in his recent update... he also looks 2+ inches taller than Noller too

Hope we hear about a CU offer soon. We need to make a good impression at our junior day.

I would be happy with a CO. state sweep of Dalton, Tiny and Jones for this cycle.

    Do it!

He has one of my favorite highlight films of all time for an OL. Love the kick coverage, nastiness and badass music! Let's make this kid a BUFF!

The nub offer is concerning. Wiggins and Lincoln are not too different. Boulder could be a bit of a culture shock. Remember Kent Kahl? Kid from Ft Morgan came to CU and ended up transferring to Iowa.

I hope your concern is misplaced. Having grown up, competed, coached, and observed the LowerPlatte League and its ilk, I can assureyou that even in these school districts the young are taught the Three R’s,and don’t fear electric light (or dope smokin' hippies). Liberallifestyles and far-out thinking aren’t as foreign to us hayseeds as you mightthink, Sacky, man.
Whatever happened with Kahl (who returned to the metro area)is not representative of ussuns anymore than any given transfer. Boulder really isn’t scary to country folk, justdifferent – many small school kidshave thrived there, and view it as a cultural experience that can expand theirhorizons while getting a great education. Plenty of kids from places like Holyoke, Ovid, Oak Creek, Limon, Sterling,Fleming, Strasburg, Haxtun and many morehave flourished on the field at CU. Generally it has been thought of as the flagship program for in-statekids, and getting Dalton would only help rebuild that concept.
My concern is why CU hasn’t offered a player who seems worthy.

I think Lamont taking over the RB position had a lot to do with that transfer.

I remember the ball bouncing off of Kahl's helmet on a KO return, one snowy day at Folsom...

I hope my concern is misplaced as well. I just see Boulder as a big adjustment for a kid from Wiggins. Not that its impossible or even unlikely. It will undoubtedly be uncomfortable at first, though. Chances are that there will be more people in his Freshman dorm than he had in his entire high school.

Unless he chooses to go somewhere like Rice, that's going to be the case with any D1 program. I think there's a lot of silliness in this thread. College is an adjustment for anyone.

I love that a 7 hour drive is considered "relatively close to home".

In other news, scientists recently have uncovered the technology that will allow large metal tubes to fly through the air carrying real life people all over the world.
