2023-24 Coaching Carousel (Fitzgerald out, DC Braun interim at Northwestern)

Feels like Narduzzi, Elko and Leipold should be the leaders from this group. Jonathan Smith is also probably going to get a really long look for this job but with no real ties to the region, feels like a long shot.

Matt Campbell should have shot his shot or needs to shoot his shot someday. His stock is in slow decline and he may want to push for this one

That's a tough job to figure.

Looks like they are going to lose most of their class in recruiting and guessing that a lot of the guys loyal to Mel will transfer out (he has a history of that.)

Michigan State has the resources to be a good job and they should be able to recruit but they will always be the little brother in that state and stand in the shadow of Not only Michigan but also Ohio State, Notre Dame, and some others in the region.

The Mel situation doesn't touch on NCAA rules and there isn't any indication that sanctions are coming for anything but as a coach coming in I would worry that after all the bad publicity following Dantonio, Nasser, and now Tucker if the university administration isn't going to come down on the program restricting what can be done.

They are also still on the hook for a lot of money depending on how Tucker's contesting of his firing goes as well as money they will end up paying Ms. Tracy.

Campbell may need a fresh start somewhere that might be more of a lateral move before he is a serious candidate for a bigger program job that's willing to throw around a 9 figure contract. Iowa State isn't a good job and I don't see any way he's able to get them back to where they were a few years ago.

Pretty unlikely he wins the QB lottery again.

Yup, he should have jumped when he had the better chance.

In a bizzaro world, those could have been the list of candidates for CU

Why would any coach that is exceeding expectations at a low pressure program walk into an absolute delusional dumpster fire **** show of a program.
Because 95% of coaches aren’t concerned with “low pressure” and KU had a fairly mediocre ceiling and will never pay what MSU can pay.

Because most coaches aren’t playing the long game. And there are arguments both ways as to what’s the best way to go. Depends on priorities, values, and how a guy defines quality of life I suppose.
