sack. Who didn't see that coming?
Going out on a limb here but Cody clearly isn't the answer at QB, they might as well let Ballenger play out the rest of the games. How bad could it be?

I have yet to hear ANYONE at practice say that Cody is not the best QB we have. When Matt outplays him there (and maybe he will), I think he'll play in games.
Look, I'm with you but Cody is not getting better. Is there really a point to sticking with him so they can go 5-7 (maybe)? NFL teams do this all the time. A starter doesn't deliver so they get the young guy real game experience with an eye towards next year. At the very least Ballenger has the physical tools to be a BigXII quarterback. Why not give him a shot?
I think Ballenger has the tools to makeup for pressure in the Big XII that Cody can not overcome.
I think you are right. He has the tools. I'd love to see him develop those tools and turn into a 6'4" Howitzer. But NFL size is not enough...sincerely, Adam Bledsoe.
Adam Bledsoe played in the NFL, and on pretty good teams. Cody will never even get a look as a punt snapper.
The best series we had offensively was the one when Ballenger was at the helm. Granted it was against 2nd stringers. But still looked very good.
Now I dont think Ballenger is Colt McCoy or Sam Bradford, but I do think he is what we need in the Big XII until we get that 4-5 star QB.
:yeahthat:I'm also ok with Ballenger playing. But as much as the fans want to win, don't you think the coaches and players want to win more? When Ballenger outplays Cody at practice, then he'll play. I think that is a very real possibility. Heck, I'd like to see Tyler Hansen turn into a dual threat QB along the lines of McCoy and Daniels.
Did one of you possibly mean Drew? Adam was the little brother that rode the bench at CU for 4 years. If you needed an indicator of what CU used to be versus what it is now there you go. The talented brother of a then NFL star quarterback couldnt crack the starting lineup at CU in the 90's. Anyone remember Jeremy Weisinger? He was a 5 star (correct me if I'm wrong) quarterback recruit and he never even sniffed playing time.

Right on, my bad. I meant Drew, and you are correct on those facts, but from what I saw I didnt think Ballnger was that much worse that Cody, in fact I saw quite the opposite in potential.
I agree. I think they need to build around his physical skill set. I don't know if he's got the intangibles to be a championship level QB but why not give him the chance to impress?
this is a stupid conversation. Our O line is the problem, not our QB

Let's start Ballenger. Then when he fails, then you will be saying well Nelson is a senior he should get his chance. Maybe even let's give up this season and get Hansen some playing time. QB is not the problem. A young line decimated by injury is.
I'll stipulate to your point but tell me something: would you agree that if everything else were equal that Ballenger would still have a significant height, strength, and (evidently) mobility advantage over Cody? That must count for something. I want to believe that Hawk has an absolutely objective view of his son as far as his ability goes but as I've mentioned before I'm a father myself and I can tell you that it's next to impossible to be coldly dispassionate about your own son. He has a rooting interest in Cody being the starter. Whatever he says to the contrary that is simply a fact. Any of us would feel the same about our sons in that position. I'm not blaming him but someone needs to broach the possibility to him that Ballenger (or even Hansen) might need to get a real shot at ingame experience. Cody is not getting the job done. Patchwork O-line or not he isn't producing.
