Fresno State @ Colorado Score prediction thread

If we rush for 100 yds or more, CU wins 41-34. Should our rushing attack flounder, game over. Really need our O line to take a step forward. It is a "winnable" game but only if we are sharp in all phases!

Coach Mac excited for this challenge! I believe we come out pretty grounded for this game.....
 
Lots of kool aid drinking this week. I am praying they pull this out. And I am 100% confident it will be light years better than out performance last year. BUT I think this is gonna be a tough one for our boys. First of all their offense is putting up some big numbers and Carr is a stellar QB. Their receivers are all very fast a very big, could pose issues against our undersized nickle and dime backs. Our D will do better than last year but even with good planning I still think they are gonna put up 40+ points. Gonna be tough for us to keep up. The only way I see us getting close to winning is if they somehow discover a running game this week to keep the ball outta Carr's hands and control time of possession. But considering our running game was PATHETIC against CSU and UCA (who btw have significantly worse talent up front than FS) I am not hopeful that happens. It should be an entertaining one but sadly my prediction: FS- 45 CU-30
 
I'm sorry but 9.5 points?!?! That's not nearly enough. We look like a much improved team, but we beat a couple pretty weak teams comparatively. Fresno is just outside the top 25 with more votes than teams like BYU, Texas, Penn St, and Boise. I just don't think we're that good yet, so I am hoping we play a full 60 minutes and keep it respectable. This team beat us by 48 points in one half last year.

This is a difficult game to call as have been the prior 2. At least this time we have more info on our opponent and on how we are playing as a team with new coaching and schemes.

I don't think we pull this one out but it should be close.

Fresno Offense vs. CU Defense
Their offense is firing on all cylinders and our defense is starting to play quite well. Advantage Fresno

CU Offense vs. Fresno Defense
We are starting to get something going on offense but are still too one dimensional. Fresno's D doesn't look very good right now. Advantage CU

Special Team
Until they prove me wrong on coverages, CU will be at a disadvantage on special teams. Advantage Fresno

Prediction:

I like this game better now than two weeks ago, but we still aren't there yet, and our special teams scares the crap out of me in this game because we can't give Fresno great field position or else we are screwed:

CU 31
Fresno 42

Much better than last year, but we don't have the defense to stop Carr.
 
FSU 45
CU 38

And I am going to laugh my ass off when all the chicken littles start screaming about the sky again. Sack up BuffNation. Enjoy the ride.
 
Fresno is the best team we've faced so far, but I'm going to say the Buffs. We have the better defense, can keep up on offense, it's a home game and we are holding a grudge. If special teams don't flake out and Fresno tires out in the 4th as they should...

I hope the special teams is a point of emphasis this week in practice, which will help out the defense in the field position battle. I'm not sure of the offenses ability to win in a true shootout like Fresno's first week. The run will have to be established and just bleed the clock with long drives.

To win, CU needs to win the turnover battle by at least +3. yea, not gonna happen.

I get what you're saying about big WRs, but we don't have any smurf DBs anymore. Awuzie and Moseley are both near 6'.
 
I picked the Buffs to lose in the season prediction thread, but I'll switch the game up here. I think Powell will show up and they keep Fresno's offense off the field. Buffs win with another pick-six late in the game! 41-38 Buffs! My cup (of Kool Aid) runeth over!
 
I'm in agreement that the CU running game has to show up to at least give our boys a chance. If it gets rolling then maybe...

I think that we hit the first roadbump in MM's tenure at CU, losing 45 -27. I just want this team to keep improving.

MM is currently 1-1 against FS. The loss coming in his first (1-11) season at SJSU. His second season (5-7) he beat them in Fresno. Did not play his third year.
 
This was against Cal Poly - other then the punt returns for touchdowns (scares the hell out of me) - the Buffs can beat this team -

Apparently FS put in their backups in the second half, but looking at the game stats from this game and rutgers, I agree.
 
Want to be faithful, but can't help but think this game is going to be out of reach near the end, 48-38.

i hope I'm wrong

Only way we have a chance in this game is if the scoring stays low - defense must contain FSU. That being said, it would be a huge win and signify an incredible turnaround to come away with a W.

Early season poling is a great indication of how good a team is...

I think we have a shot but my gut is telling me we lose by 10 in a shoot out. 45-35. Obviously if we get some turnovers and hold on to the ball ourselves that score could be flip flopped.

Why so down on the offense, especially against Fresno's defense? PRich is going to be the best player they've gone against so far.
