Speculation has been burning fast and furious that Wulff will be fired by Washington State at some point shortly after Saturday’s Apple Cup game with Washington. One name that’s already being mentioned in connection to the potential opening is former Oregon head coach Mike Bellotti.
Bellotti just happens to be extremely tight with Wazzu athletic director Bill Moos, so connecting the dots between the two is natural. Asked Tuesday by the Tacoma News Tribune if he would have an interest in a job that has not yet come open, Bellotti said he hadn’t “done that much studying on that job” but did not outright deny any interest.
“Bill and I are very close friends,” the current ESPN college football analyst said of the man who will decide Wulff’s fate. “If we talk about it at some point, that’s one thing, but we haven’t had any discussions. …
