there is a thread floating around on the basketball board that is an embarrassment. i have not posted in it and frankly i would wish that it would go away; but i felt the need to make a comment.
allbuffs represents the university of colorado, it's alumni, its fans, and it athletic department on the internet. that has the potential to reach thousands of people. i wish some of you would consider that before you make offhanded remarks that may represent the rest of us poorly.
what you posted is a detriment to hard work and progress that mike bohn, dan hawkins, ceal berry, jeff bzdelik, kathy mcconnell-miller and the rest of the people in the cu athletic department have made in the last few years.
it is a disservice to the hundreds of hard working student-athletes who represent the university on a daily basis.
i am proud to support a university that provides opportunities to these athletes. i am proud to donate to a university and an athletic program that supports non-revenue generating sports in addition to football and basketball. last time i checked we have a whole lot more national championships in non-revenue generating sports than we will ever sniff in football. that is a good thing for the university and for the state.
some of you whine about having to spend a few hundred extra bucks in donations for the privilege of owning season football tickets. and then in the next breath you whine about not having sports like baseball or hockey. well, it seems to me that if we had more support for some of our the other revenue generating sports that we currently have, we would be able to afford the facilities we need to develop those sports.
get a clue people. represent the university and support it in the best way you can. don't diss our current programs and student-athletes. if you don't have something positive to say, kindly keep your opinions to yourselves.
you don't represent me.
