They (Butthuskers) seem to think he will be gone as soon as he gets a HC offer from a Div 1 school. Personally, I don't think he's going to get an offer from any Div 1 school anytime soon. Especially if they have a sub-par season.

I could see him getting an offer from a MAC, MWC, Sunbelt type school. I don't see him getting a BCS level offer though.

their basic deal is, they think everybody else is as obsessed about NU as they are. They really think they are still a top program and that any of their assistants are being courted for hc gigs. I doubt they had ever heard of Shawn Watson before he went there in 2006, even after 62-36, but now they think he's a genius because he wears a red sweatshirt instead of a black one. It can't be from their offensive production, because its been pretty pedestrian.

And the "he grooms top qbs" stuff gets me too. Good for a laugh.

Thanks for summarizing. I cannot visit any kNU fan board because my IQ immediately drops 20 pts and I need all of my available faculties today.

Yeah, I reviewed alot of their posts to the point that I had to stop before I puked all over my monitor. Those people are equally obsessed with themselves as much as they are with their team. Lends new meaning to "Get a Life" :puke:And grooming the QB remarks were exactly that, good for a laugh!

I don't think any coaching move made me as happy as booger's move east. I'll take Kiesau (or just about anyone else) any day.

Yeah, I'm not missing shortbus. We used to call out the play that we thought was coming, and we were almost always right. And if we could call it up in 214, the defense obviously could too.

But at the same time, his offenses did far better than what we've seen since Hawkins's arrival.

Nebraska thinks that they are so set at the QB position, that if Lee doesn't work out that the next guy will simply step up and deliver wins. They are in for the surprise of a lifetime.

I for one feel better about our QB situation than theirs - and that's saying alot.

I rewatched OU NU from last year recently. The OU safety read picked and returned for six one of Shortbus' bubble screens. Offnesive genius?, I think not, I commented when they hired him as OC they would get to see that happen...

Yeah, last year they had a thread about Watson and I explained in detail what was coming. A couple of people on that board seem to realize that calling the same 4 or 5 plays all game only works when you have a boatload of talent(like we had in 2001), but most of them are to busy polishing their replicas of the co-divisional trophy to see what is going on.

Ouch...isn't that the truth? But I don't miss his playing time or those bubble screens.

Got to love all the football "nowledge" showing up in this thread. The way I see it the thread over at the Husker site is an interesting discussion and read. Some of them are obviously more informed then others, but it is fun to read.

There has to be more to life then throwing Husker fans under the imaginary bus just out of habit all the time.

The season needs to start soon or else there is going to be a melt down around here.

Watson left some baggage around these parts as our former OC. It's not just a kneejerk response to bag on nebraska--at least in this case--so much as it is surprise that Watson is so popular around those parts.

Watson is one thing that we share with you guys, and for your fans to view his performance so differently than our fans is salient. You'll call for his head within two seasons. Come back and view this thread again at that time.

Making fun of delusional Husker fans is, well, fun. Sane husker fans are not the target. But sane fans on huskerboard are few and far between. Seriously, seeing people who had no idea who Watson was before he came to Nebraska now touting him as an automatic BCS head coaching candidate because he's Nebraska's OC, and talking about him as some sort if genius, well that's priceless. Those people have no idea how long he was here, what our offense did while he was here, all they remember is 62-36 and because Watson is their OC now they want to tell themselves that he was the reason, and he will make their offense dominant again.

And that's crazy. For starters, our 2001 offense had 8 starters who went to the pros, 4 of whom are still in the pros 8 years later. By comparison, 5 of your 83 offense went to the pros (Behning, Traynowicz, Steinkuhler, Rozier and Fryar) and only one was in the league 8 years later (Fryar). Not saying the 2001 CU offense was better, I'm making a point about the talent Watson had to work with. Secondly, Watson is a west coast guy, we ran the WC in 01, and now you guys are morphing into the spread option. You think that Watson is going to magically make himself a spread option guru? Do you think that if this were the scenario at another school that Nebraska fans would be touting Watson for a HC gig? The only reason that they consider Watson a "hot commodity" is that he's Nebraska's OC. That's it. And thats crazy.

But you'll find out. Watson calls the same play over and over again and eventually defenses learn to figure out which 5 plays Watson is running and shut you down and light you up. Get ready for the qb's staggering around the field in a haze and linemen standing around looking confused.

As for that thread being an interesting discussion, if you call a discussion where maybe one or two people know anything at all about the subject being discussed and the rest are basically babbling self-comforting nonsense, well, more power to ya. But the funny part of that thread, the post that made me pollute this board with huskercrap, is the post where the sage from Nebraska predicted that Watson is coming here after Hawkins gets fired.

Hawkins is not getting fired any time soon. And Watson will never, never ever, be a coaching candidate here. Period. And the fact that Nebraska fans still insist on believing that Hawkins is getting fired proves my point: Most Nebraska fans know practically nothing about CU (or any other program), but think that they know more about CU than CU fans, because in their minds they are the "greatest fans in college football" and all that nonsense.

But I think you know that those crazy people are crazy, or else you wouldn't be here, discussing football with people who are not all reciting from Chairman Tom Osborne's Little Red Book.

It's so funny how we CU fans warned Husker fans about Steve Watson and now they are starting to see the light...

Yeah, but if you look at when they got their yards, it looks pretty ordinary. They got 400 some yards against Oklahoma, but they didn't do anything at all offensively until they were down 35-0. Getting yards when your down 35-0 isn't much of an accomplishment, any more than piling on yards against the three creampuffs they have on their OOC every year means the order is restored. They played a Clemson team that wasn't very good, and had no offense at all, and they struggled against them too.

And yeah, I realize our offense was terrible. The point is, if Shawn Watson were the coordinator of any other school, and had the same resume, Nebraska fans wouldn't have the faintest idea of who he is, let alone assume as a given that he is getting a hc gig any time soon. And the posts on that board prove that they don't have any idea what they're talking about even though he's their OC; some of those posts were saying things like "he's a proven groomer of top qb's" which is a complete fantasy. Around recruiting time, the same guys were touting Watson as a "groomer of NFL quarterbacks" as a recruiting edge with high school talent. WHAT? Not one qb ever coached by Shawn Watson has made a final NFL roster, ever. But that doesn't matter when you're a nebraska fan trying to convince yourself that the Great Leap Forward is just around the corner. But it will end in tears. And they will devour Watson and Pellini just as they devoured Solich and Callahan.

Yes, there is. Family, God, Country, and throwing fuskers under the bus. In that order. Everything else is academic.

So one game against OU explains how their offense was ranked 12th nationally?

Clemson? Not a great team, but Clemson's defense was ranked #13 in scoring defense, giving up 17ppg. NU put up 26 points.

Clemson's defense was ranked #18 in the nation. They gave up an average of 299 YPG. Nebraska put up 361 yards.

If you want to bag on Watson for what he did here, that's fine. But by all accounts he led a pretty good NU offense last year.

I'm bagging on delusional husker fans who have no idea what they are talking about and think Shawn Watson is the second coming of Bill Walsh. If you want to deliberately miss the point so you can stupidly and endlessly contradict people, go right ahead. Nobody is paying any attention to you, no matter how many times you neg rep the whole board.
