Got to love all the football "nowledge" showing up in this thread. The way I see it the thread over at the Husker site is an interesting discussion and read. Some of them are obviously more informed then others, but it is fun to read.
There has to be more to life then throwing Husker fans under the imaginary bus just out of habit all the time.
The season needs to start soon or else there is going to be a melt down around here.
Making fun of delusional Husker fans is, well, fun. Sane husker fans are not the target. But sane fans on huskerboard are few and far between. Seriously, seeing people who had no idea who Watson was before he came to Nebraska now touting him as an automatic BCS head coaching candidate because he's Nebraska's OC, and talking about him as some sort if genius, well that's priceless. Those people have no idea how long he was here, what our offense did while he was here, all they remember is 62-36 and because Watson is their OC now they want to tell themselves that he was the reason, and he will make their offense dominant again.
And that's crazy. For starters, our 2001 offense had 8 starters who went to the pros, 4 of whom are still in the pros 8 years later. By comparison, 5 of your 83 offense went to the pros (Behning, Traynowicz, Steinkuhler, Rozier and Fryar) and only one was in the league 8 years later (Fryar). Not saying the 2001 CU offense was better, I'm making a point about the talent Watson had to work with. Secondly, Watson is a west coast guy, we ran the WC in 01, and now you guys are morphing into the spread option. You think that Watson is going to magically make himself a spread option guru? Do you think that if this were the scenario at another school that Nebraska fans would be touting Watson for a HC gig? The only reason that they consider Watson a "hot commodity" is that he's Nebraska's OC. That's it. And thats crazy.
But you'll find out. Watson calls the same play over and over again and eventually defenses learn to figure out which 5 plays Watson is running and shut you down and light you up. Get ready for the qb's staggering around the field in a haze and linemen standing around looking confused.
As for that thread being an interesting discussion, if you call a discussion where maybe one or two people know anything at all about the subject being discussed and the rest are basically babbling self-comforting nonsense, well, more power to ya. But the funny part of that thread, the post that made me pollute this board with huskercrap, is the post where the sage from Nebraska predicted that Watson is coming here after Hawkins gets fired.
Hawkins is not getting fired any time soon. And Watson will never, never ever, be a coaching candidate here. Period. And the fact that Nebraska fans still insist on believing that Hawkins is getting fired proves my point: Most Nebraska fans know practically nothing about CU (or any other program), but think that they know more about CU than CU fans, because in their minds they are the "greatest fans in college football" and all that nonsense.
But I think you know that those crazy people are crazy, or else you wouldn't be here, discussing football with people who are not all reciting from Chairman Tom Osborne's Little Red Book.
