Per Twitter, the men's bball team has arrived on the U.S. Virgin Islands ahead of this weekend's Paradise Jam Tournament, with all games scheduled to be played at the "University of the Virgin Islands Sports and Fitness Center".

Looking at a bracket I found (https://basketballtravelers.com/documents/2021/5/17//2021_Paradise_Jam_Men_Bracket.pdf?id=284; looks like Virgin Island time is 3 hours ahead of Mountain Time), IF the Buffs win their 1st 2 games, the schedule for the 3 games they'd play are:

Friday, 6:00 PM MT; Vs. Southern Illinois
Sunday, 6:00 PM MT, vs. the winner of Friday's Northeastern/ Duquesne game.
Championship game- Monday at 6:00 PM.

(Just going out one game if they lose-
IF they lose their 1st game, they'd be in a loser's bracket game scheduled to begin on Saturday at 3:45 PM MT vs. the loser of Northeastern/ Duquesne.
If they win the 1st game and lose the 2nd, they'd be in the 3rd place game on Monday at 3:45 PM MT.)

I was shocked to see CU has the highest KenPom of any team in the tourney. Honestly, I think CSU and Creighton are both better right now.

I looked in on the teams in our bracket and I think we got the best draw possible. Goose tell me about the rams this year. Is it experience? Talent? Both?
I looked back a bit to the 2017 jam and it’s funny how things have come full circle. Young team full of a good recruiting class making their way. I can only hope we find our next hero during this tournament. I will never forget Kin’s 3 to save the team. He had legend written all over him.

Returned over 90% of their minutes. Roddy is a stud. Stevens is the best PG in the MWC. Not a lot of height and won't wow you with athleticism, but veteran, skilled and well-coached.

If all goes as it should, we should play CSU in the final. (knocks on wood)

If both teams play to their potential, we should be playing CSU in the final, which is ironic, given that this is a rare year that we didn't schedule them.

They're good this year. It would be a tough game.

Preview, with a little on tomorrow's opponent, is now out - https://cubuffs.com/news/2021/11/18...radise-jam-friday-with-southern-illinois.aspx

ABOUT THE BUFFALOES: Colorado is off to a 3-0 start for the second time in three seasons after defeating Maine, 90-46, on Nov. 15.

Colorado's offense is off to a good start as the Buffaloes are averaging 90.3 points over its first three games while shooting 51.5 percent from the field.

Colorado has scored at least 80 points in the first three games of the season since 2009-10, when the Buffaloes defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff (88-72), Coppin State (82-58) and Texas Southern (88-77).

Defensively, the Buffaloes have allowed 70.7 points per game while opponents have shot 42 percent. The Buffaloes have outrebounded their three opponents by an average of 17 per game. Colorado held Maine to 32.7 percent shooting (16-49) and held a plus-22 advantage on the boards (45-23). Colorado is 73-5 in the Tad Boyle era when holding teams under 40 percent from the field and at least a plus-8 rebound advantage.

Colorado's 100 free throw attempts are its most in a three-game stretch since Jan. 2-8, 2014 when the Buffaloes had 104 in home games against Oregon State (27) and Oregon (39) and a road game at Washington State (38). The 72 free throws made are the most in a three-game stretch since making 72, Nov. 14-21, in home games against Seattle (26), Louisiana-Monroe (28) and against Notre Dame (18) in Brooklyn, N.Y.
...

ABOUT THE SALUKIS: Southern Illinois is 1-1 on the season, coming off a 73-55 home win over Austin Peay on Nov. 12. The Salukis are averaging 69.5 points while shooting 51 percent from the field. SIU has outrebounded its opponents by 11 per game. Defensively, the Salukis allow 62 points per game while opponents are shooting 43 percent. SIU was picked to finish fifth in the Missouri Valley Conference.

SIU returns 97 percent of its scoring from last year's team and seven players who started 10 or more games a year ago. Junior guard Lance Jones leads the Salukis averaging 21.5 points while shooting 63 percent from the field. Junior forward Marcus Domask is averaging 14.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and a team-best 3.5 assists. Junior guard Steven Verplancken averages 12.5 points while shooting 60 percent.

THE SERIES: Colorado and Southern Illinois have met just once. The Salukis took a 94-92 win in Boulder in the first round of the 2000 NIT.

Southern Illinois did beat Butler last year with the same top 3 of Jones, Domask, and Verplaken and took Loyola Chicago to OT. These guys are experienced and return a ton of production, plus neutral court. Wouldn't surprise me if we have a slow start. Do have a huge size advantage but let's see if our young guards are going to feed our size.

I imagine Game 1 against SIU will be tight through the first half. Betting we pull away about 6 minutes into the 2nd half and win something like 82-74.

The last time I remember playing SIU was 2000 in the NIT tournament in Boulder. Didn't end well for us and Coach Patton had to be restrained at the end after rolling/throwing the ball at the refs. Winnable game but coach was not focused on the game at hand for the last few minutes and we lost by 2.

SIU has a very experienced team. Hope we figure out a way to win this one and keep learning.

Hell yea to the good ole reverse jinx! Looking great and pounding it inside!

Awful sound mixing on this ESPN broadcast. It’s as bad as those random French guys at those untelevised games years ago. Either way, happy to be able to watch. Good start. Damn Kee. Bad first foul for Jabari, put his arms down. Keep up the pressure, don’t let them back in. Let’s go!

I can't stop staring at #1's ankles. His socks make it look like he has prosthetic legs.
