Being shredded by Taylor Potts. 281 yds and 2 td's with 11:00 left in the 3rd.:wow:
.
That being said, the defense has been particularly poor today. Looks like a crappy bowl for OU this year.
OU has shown a tendency to really struggle on the road with 1st year QB's.

Goes to show you that with 85 Scholies its harder to be consistent year over year over year. See USC as well. Its pretty hard to be awesome every year.
OU has had a lot of injuries.
:yeahthat:
The 85 scholarship limit did more than anything to bring parity to college football.

Venables sucks. Looks like a dork.. I don't want him as coach.
Then we disagree. I'd take him over Squakins tommorow. Im not convinced Hawkins is done until they actually fire him.
It was a smart move by the 'have nots' like Louisville, TCU, ECU, and on and on to break the stranglehold on talent that ND, OU, Alabama and others had on the system.
But the "have-nots" aren't the ones who implemented the 85 scholly limit, it was the NCAA.

Funny how Oklahoma, Georgia, USC, LSU are all down this year and were on top of the world the last few years. Huge recruiting classes - how do they have a down year?
Crappy or very young QB's....
Following Soonerball since V's arrival, he's usually had a stout front Defensive 7 and an incredibly lousy secondary. Sometimes, Venebles fields a poor defensive front, too, but he's always had terrible secondaries. He must be proud of that - he does it constantly. In a conference with QBs that can actually hit the broadside of the barn more than a few times in a game, this is BAD.
In bowl games, where he'll play the Boise type teams with QBs able to hit the broadside of a barn, it's bad.
He needs to coach in a conference where QB accuracy is terrible.
I just can't figure out why he gets 2 out of every 4 bluechip DB, year after year, but still only develops an occasional lineman or LB.
Miami forgets to mention that in 1990 the NFL began to allow juniors to enter the NFL draft so players are also leaving earlier thus opening up spots for scholarships.. The big time schools always get the big talent and there always has been players that slip through the cracks that were under recruited or underrated coming out of high school and settle at a smaller school.
I think the scholarship limit is an excuse when the big programs start losing.. It sounds good in theory but is it reality? Not really. The big coaches always find a way to win.
Has it had an impact? I won't deny that but has changed the landscape of college football? Not really... BYU won a national championship in 1984 with the full 90/95 scholarships. Have we seen a smaller school from a non-BCS conference win a championship with the 85 limit? Nope.
Am I the only one that keeps reading this thread title as, "Venerial Disease"?
