We now take you to Oxford, Mississippi...

If he is calling from the plane and doing it in a hotel room paid for by the school then he has gone over the line.

Even if paying for it out of his own money it is a criminal act arraigned and conducted during time he was representing the school and if in his hotel room in a location paid for by the school.

In the private sector he might be able to make an argument but when you work for the taxpayer you get tried in the court of public opinion.
Ole Miss didn't care, just win, and don't get caught.

But I don't understand the hotel room concern. They were paying for him to stay there whether he solicited a hooker or whacked off !

Committed a criminal act on what was property rented by his employer/ the university.

A professional musician friend says he doesn't pay women for sex, he pays them to leave after. He looks a little like Danny DaVito's Penguin character, so some of them probably do find religion thanks to him.
I think the joke is, "I don't pay them to come, I pay them to go". It's an important nuance, in my opinion.
Jesus dude committed career suicide and I'm sure his church is real proud.

Commas are important.

Jesus dude would have been a hell of a carpenter if he didn't get caught up in all of the Son of God crap. That doesn't play well in the carpentry guild.

Yeah, roughly that.

Traveling to all these unfamiliar cities for recruiting could be confusing. The man may get lost. Hiring an escort keeps him out of trouble...

Not going to judge because I've always felt the original sin should be legalized.

The only thing I find offensive is :

that he tarnished the reputation of Ole Miss.
That he was holier than thou all the while.
And that he was too stupid to cover his tracks.
Waitaminute... it's illegal to eat apples?

So aside from the stupidity of calling an escort on his employer's phone, did they connect Freeze to anything else?

Yes, that is exactly what I meant.

Just wondering if there was more to the story. Never mind.

Ah.

The big story is it happened several times on recruiting trips. Not the worst thing in the world to be honest, but obviously embarrassing for a university under scrutiny. He should have been fired for the recruiting violations under his watch well before he got fired for the prostitution stuff.

When we were recruiting Bubba Bolden last year Ole Miss offered and the Ole Miss fans invaded his twitter. Some of the crap Ole Miss fans were saying made me want to take a shower and scrub with bleach. One of the reasons I don't follow recruits in twitter any more.

Dodd thinks:

-Another year added to the self-imposed bowl ban (two years total).
-25 scholarships lost over three years.
-Players allowed to transfer without penalty.

Rough guess on his part, but he thinks Ole Miss will get hammered.
Scholarships are going to add up and depth is going to be a huge problem, particularly if the third bullet causes a lot of guys to leave. Ole Miss could easily be in a situation where they are trying to compete in the SEC West with 65 guys on scholarship (and their best players having gone elsewhere via transfer).

I must be an a-hole because I don’t think that’s enough punishment. Don’t you want to discourage other institutions from violating the rules?

I want crippling punishments

In addition
CU needs to get aggressive here. Even better than a JUCO signing because: 1) proven P5 production; and, 2) would not count against the 25 player class limit.

In addition, reportedly 13 players from the Minnesota program have decided that the PJ Fleck rowboat is not for them and are transferring out. Might be worth a look, even though they'd have to sit out for a yeast.

Sit out for yeast? What the hell does that mean? Do I want to know?

If they were recruited by Jerry Kill, then I totally understand why Fleck wouldn't be for them. Colorado and MacIntyre would seem to be a very reasonable fit for them if they're looking for that kind of environment & mentor. Got to think that some will try to join Kill at Rutgers if they're allowed to transfer inside the conference. If not, CU could be a very strong destination and I hope our staff pursues the opportunity.
