fify. The coaches, the kid, and kid's parents really appreciate you comments. You trying to help recruiting or hurt it?I like the measurables.

That's my point, he doesn't criticize, he's just negative. Why are you not impressed? What are you concerns? Specifically, what have you seen that you don't like? Don't bitch at me cause you're mad at Tebow. If there are legit criticisms to be made, posters are free to make them.

You can't remember why? How can your opinion be trusted? Presumably, you can't remember why you like others better. The ****? I don't remember what I specifically didn't like about his film. I just didn't think he was a very fluid athlete, he has nice measurables, though. I didn't say he sucked, I just said I wasn't overly impressed. I was meh on him. I prefer other players at safety. If we get him I hope he blows me away.

The sooner the better.ze island. good job douches.
The sooner the better.
Fair enough. I'm not saying we should be pumping sunshine, but if you have reservations it's shouldn't be vague, it should be a specific critique. Were you implying that I'm just being negative and not critical in this thread, or in general? I'm honestly curious here because I do try to be guarded against just being negative for no reason. I don't want a kid to read a thread on him and be turned off any more than you do. That being said, I try to maintain some semblance of credibility by not automatically saying every recruit will turn into Jerry Rice or Ed Reed.
I also find it hard to believe that a kid would have seen my post and immediately jumped and ran to another school. I mean, there have been worse things said about recruits than, "I'm not overly impressed".
This is what drove my thinking. Recruits and all of their influences read these threads. Vague negative comments can only be a detriment to our recruiting efforts. There can be no positive effect. What's our goal here? A kid chose a school on a license plate sighting last year. I don't like the idea of erecting barriers to CU that don't need to be there. And before anyone says "well we don't want a kid that makes decisions like that" I'd say a lot of kids make those kinds of decisions.Did people learn nothing from an ACTUAL RECRUIT commenting on their profile earlier today?

Do you want recruits to commit? What's your point? Are you implying the rule of allowing critical comments should be changed?

That's cool. I would observe that Juda Parker didn't commit to volnation. I perceive recruiting threads to be a sales effort. DLove was in his own thread today, and I hate the idea of us interwebz people negatively swaying a young man's opinion. Maybe Barzil is the best place to share serious concerns? Is that reasonable? That's fair, I'll elaborate when I am critical of a recruit in the future.
I do think non sunshine comments are fair game, though. Way worse things are said about recruits on other boards. Reading the Juda Parker thread on volnation last year was pretty interesting. I will be more thorough in the future, though.
So you're comfortable with potentially driving away recruits? There is room for critical discussion in the recruiting forum. Always has been, always will be.

Can't say I was blown away by his highlights. Looks like a decent athlete and has good size, but I thought he looked to have safety quickness. Didn't look overly physical either, so not sure he'd make a great safety.
Do what you gotta do. But those kinds of comments can only drive a recruit away, not encourage him to consider us. If you want to retard the CU teams recruiting efforts, forge ahead. Do you really think you're a better judge of talent than our recruiting staff. If that's the case, you should be advocating for a coaching change rather than sabotaging recruiting efforts. I don't understand why you'd like to hurt recruiting for the sake of your opinion. You're confusing me my man. Are you cool with legit criticism or not?
Example:
I posted that in Dominique Love's thread. I'd say it was critical and specific. Would that be acceptable to post?
So you're comfortable with potentially driving away recruits?

Alright, but if someone posts a critique with no sustenance, which is why this discussion started, I will be a bitch. I am, after all, the dick of hope.
None of those things we're discussed by the comment that started this discussion. Can we move this to the island?Yes, we are.
We're fine with someone watching film and commenting that the prospect plays too high or seems to have tight hips or doesn't catch with his hands or doesn't seem very fast or locks onto his primary receiver or has bad mechanics/technique or lacks ideal size or isn't a big hitter or lacks ball skills. We're fine with questioning the level of competition, especially if the prospect looks good but not dominant. We're fine with questioning a light offer list when we get this late in the process. We're fine with expressing concerns over star rating (sometimes justified if the guy's been in the databases for a while and been thoroughly scouted).
If a prospect can't handle reading that kind of stuff, he's not mentally tough enough. We should be able to debate these types of things and we'd be better off without the types of players who can't handle it. They'll never be able to deal with the level of scrutiny at this level.
What we're not fine with is personal attacks on recruits or posts that totally rip on a prospect and/or the coach who is recruiting him. We're also not fine with anyone being so enamored with his own amateur ability to rate a prospect that he's unable to admit that he's not the final word on a kid... especially if he can't appreciate the prospect being interested in the Buffs or committing to play for us and be part of the family.
