The last 7 guys we need to land

o_robbie

I don't think before I post
Been looking through tons of recruits and I have decided on the last 7 guys I think Embree and Co. should focus on landing in this class that I also think we have a decent shot at landing. Listed in order by priority.

DB Yuri Wright
DB Kenny Crawley
LB Deaysean Rippy
OT Colby Cyburt
WR Javon Williams
DB John Walker
S Leo Thomas

Note: If LB Seth Jacobs wants to come to CU then we take him and ask someone else to Greyshirt potentially.

In no particular order:

DB Chris Solomon
DB Yuri Wright
DB Kenny Crawley
DB Johnny Walker
LB Deaysean Rippy
LB Seth Jacons
DL Ewing Simmons

In no particular order

DB- Yuri Wright
DB-Kenneth Crawley
DB-John Walker
LB- Deaysean Rippy or Seth Jacobs
DE- Ewing Simmons
TRansfer WR- Mike Davis
TE- Jalen Cope Fitzpatrick

Personally I am fine with Norgard at FB and I would rather go DB or LB if the players are of the same talent level. Powell would be about 10th on my want list.

I wasn't aware that Javon Williams wasn't looking at us anymore. If that is the case then I would look at Brostek OG from Hawaii as my next guy I would want on the list.

I really don't think my list is a Christmas list either. I think those 7 or 8 guys are guys CU has a very legitimate shot of getting. Now Big Bangs list was looking more like a Christmas list with Fitzpatrick on there.

If we can't land Cyburt than I think I would put E.Simmons on my list next. I don't really like any of the other OT's out there.

I get the feeling that after the top OL on the coaches boards went else where, they werent to worried about the position. Maybe I am wrong but the way recruiting has gone it seems to me like they let up on the gas after those first top guys got away. Maybe they are comfortable with what we have atm, or are looking at some of our DL recruits to make a switch.

That is a good list that is also very realistic IMO.
Yuri is probably 50/50
Crawley is 65/35
Walker is 65/35
Rippy is 70/30
Jacobs is 50/50
Not sure about some of the other guys.

I do not like lists posted by fans. I have a ton of reasons why. I trust the coaches to take men who, first, help the program and, second, men who want to be Buffs. Not necissarilly in that order. I know. I sound patronizing. But I mean it.

Hey guys, let's all put this in perspective. I know some are panicking this time of year and I hope we get a good amount of your top 7's, but let's not be discouraged if we get two, one or none. Why?

Look back over the last few years. Remember where we were?!? Look it up and try not to drop tears.

By Scout:
2009 class ranked 57th (Highlighted by Kasa...)
2010 class ranked 70th (Hawkins' last year. Stumbled onto PRich, Beat out Harvard for Hirschman...)
2011 class ranked 62nd (Embo scrambled to put together his 1st class, 4* Asiata and good production and potential so far from this class)

2012 class - Currently we're ranked 37th (7th in Pac12) and will add another 7ish players. So we could end up in the high 20's or at about 40. But my point is that we are seeing improvement. We may not get many or any 4* guys this year, but we have 17 3* guys and many of them were offered by good BCS schools.

I strongly believe we will see improvement each year. I'm thinking we win at least 5 or 6 games next year and see recruiting improve again. We're on our way back boys!

People should really stop using the 2009-2011 classes as a baseline. It is about as lazy as you can get when it comes to analyzing recruiting success or failure.

This staff was put together in large part because of their recruiting connections/prowess. EB is getting paid a lot more than the previous OC in large part because of his recruiting ability. Being better than Hawkins last couples class is a given, so stop using them as a comparison.

5 wins can't be accepted. Recruits don't care about mountains, they want to play for winning programs who go to bowls. cu NEEDS TO HAVE A WINNING SEASON NEXT YEAR. They need to recruit better, many expected better, not a knock, people believe we have the guys to recruit the top talent here.

But JE is getting paid a hell of a lot less than Dooshbag Danny....

Your point is valid about the comparison, but we cannot forget how badly the previous regime screwed the pooch in terms of perception (media, recruits, coaches, on and on and on....).....we have a massive hole to escape, and it will take time.

Contradiction? Yeah, I think so. You want them to recruit better but just said players want to play for winning programs. Well which is it?

You can't just go out and get the elite players to come here on hope. You need to show improvement in your record and bowl appearances. I'm happy seeing improvement and a top 40 class and having a mid Pac12 class is a win in my mind. Of course, I'll expect no less than 5 wins and a better class next year or my opinion will become more negative. But this process just can't happen that quickly after getting no talent the last few years.

What he said. Some of you expect instant results. Get real! Hawkins' screwed us and having him as a coach one extra year really screwed us! I hate it, but it takes time and you need to show patience and take the positives you can.

Do NOT focus on trying to get the USC or Oregon type classes right now. We are looking at the teams ahead of us. In the South division, I want to out-recruit and beat the Arizona teams and Utah. Then work our way up!

Oh common how is it more realistic to wish for a player that is not even considering CU like Javon Williams, and then call JFP a christmas wish. JFP is about to take his second visit to CU, we are in his top two, and he has a good relationship with JE.

Ah, the tired old retort of "you cannot expect us to recruit with USC or Cal or Oregon". If you can point me to anyone on this site that has those expectations, call them out. Otherwise, that argument is a non-starter because no one expects a top 10-15 class.

I do expect this staff to close on 1-2 blue chips to finish out the class. That is not a wild expectation, especially when you consider the coaching turnover in the Pac-12.

Coach them up and win now. This sounds exactly like the hawk era. "It takes time', "be patient" and so on... Cu doesn't have this mountain of time people seem to think.

That's the problem, if anyone says they expect better the response is ' you can't expect a top10 class". I've never said or expected a top 10 class. I did expect better than what has transpired so far. Comparing this class to hawk's awful classes is dumb.

That's the bar? I guess so for some. I would think they want things to get much better not brag about getting recruits who have more bcs offers than hawk's class.

I think the odds of us flipping a USC commit are zero at this point. I guess you can call my list a wish list to since Williams was on it but I swear there were people on here only a week ago saying we could be in on Williams if we wanted to but they weren't sure Embree was wanting to get another WR. I thought we were in Williams top 3. I really don't believe we are in on JFP at all. We had our shot at McNamara and lost.

Right now we are ranked 7th in the Pac12. But you aren't happy with it so it seems safe for me to say that it looks like you expect to have a class similar to those schools. We may not have what rivals or scout ranks as a 4 star kid, but we have a lot of kids that were highly recruited by many good schools. I do think we'll get at least one of the 4 star guys that we're hoping for by NSD tho.

Sit down Rando!

I posted Hawk's classes to show what a hole we are having to build out of. It is tough to win now when the last coach brought in a bunch of D-1AA players! I would hope that CU could get at least a mid ranked Pac12 class and have some momentum going into next year.

Are y'all leaders of the Pessimistic Party Comity?
