The Official BC Pre-Game Thread

Bama is probably the best team, but I could do without the shameless promotion of Bama (by two posters no less) on a freaking Buffs site.

I wasn't promoting Bama. I honestly was hoping for an LSU win. But facts are facts, Bama dismantled the undisputed #1 team in the country. There's no doubt in my mind that they're the best college football team in the country. The BCS worked. That last sentence is probably what most people are truly pissed about.

You really think OSU could do anything against that Bama D? I mean, seriously? Did you watch the game? What about any other game? Did you watch the Auburn game? Auburn only scored on special teams. Bama has more speed, more size, more everything.
Bama's defense was the best I have seen in many years. They are going to lose alot of those players to the draft.

Yeah it's gonna be interesting to see how they respond without the core of their D. LSU if they can get a mediocre QB will be filthy next year.

Auburns offense is horse****, why would you bring them up? No one shut down OSU all year. They had one game with about 4 bad turnovers and a few missed FG's where they lost, but they still scored.

Alabama would have probably held them to 31 or 24, but no way bama scores more than 17 points.

This post is amazing.

None of the SEC offenses are a good example. They suck!

Bama rolled everyone except LSU the first time. Really don't understand why people are so adamant about not wanting to admit that Bama is the best team in the country. Answer this, prior to the game, did you think LSU was the best team in the country?

No, I thought OSU was.

Sigh..... you ignored what I was talking about in my post because you would rather whine/bitch then actually respond. All I pointed out was that NOBODY knows what will happen when 2 teams play. Bama has a great defense, but who says the OSU coaches wouldn't have been able to find weakness or a bama players tendencies they could exploit. I would continue this argument, but you will just hide behind the "SEC is the greatest thing ever" defense and talk out your ass.

The best team in the country loses to Iowa State who got beat pretty good by Rutgers? Interesting.

They got beat by a conference team in overtime, sound familiar to some other team (hint, they like elephants and thier fans are retards)? Turnovers, brotha.

Green Bay lost to KC. Turnovers.

So by using your logic: CU beat Utah, Utah beat UCLA, UCLA beat Arizona State, Arizona State beat USC, USC beat Oregon.. so certainly that means CU is the best team in the Pac-12!

No but CU was not considered the best team. The best team in the country should win every game that season. OSU lost to a 7-6 ISU team. LSU went to Bryant-Denny Stadium and beat Alabama and were widely considered the best team. Bama ****ed LSU up three ways to Sunday.

So ISU is on the same level as Alabama?

Could you be more condescending if you tried?

You can't use that argument to help you then when someone else uses that failed logic you deny it lol...... You must realize how bad you are making yourself right? Maybe you should go back to high school and take a class on how to win/persuade in an argument.

Do you agree that the best team should win every game they play?

Should the best team win every game? Probably if it is the best team on paper, but that doesn't mean they will win. There are so many other things that factor into college football like say turnovers, momentum and etc that can't be accounted for until the game is played. Sure Alabama is better on paper then Oklahoma State, but last I checked that doesn't mean **** once that football is kicked off. If you simulated the game 100 times Bama might win 70%, but who says that Oklahoma State won't win the one game that matters?

The Packers were better then the Chiefs on paper, but turnovers and other things killed them.
Patriots were by far better then those Giants in 2007 and they lost.
I could go on and on and on and on and on, but why since you clearly won't get the ****ing point.

Not at all. Often the best team gets dealt a bad hand and loses. A few turnovers, a lucky catch, bad officiating, all factor into who wins games.

That is the fatal flaw of college football, but also what makes it so interesting - there is no redemption.

Most years the best team doesn't win the superbowl in the NFL. Just the luckiest team in the playoffs. (see the Giants a few years ago)

I have been watching college football and sports for that matter for a long time. After watching it for these years I have come to the conclusion that a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing. This is the "conventional wisdom" I alluded to previously. There are many teams that I have observed that just simply refuse to lose. They may be inferior than their opponent on paper. But on the field they simply find a way to win. Tebow looks like he might be a classic example of this dynamic. Time will tell. There are many teams over the years that fit this category, Valvano's NC State team in the Final Four winning it all would be an example. And to me another example is the 2000 Oklahoma Sooner team. It was Stoops' second year as head coach. They had a decent team but their QB was some average guy from South Dakota or somewhere like that. The team had a decent schedule and were often underdogs. But they just kept winning. Sometimes it wasn't pretty. By the time they made it to the national championship game, Orange Bowl, they were up against an enormously talented Florida State team. And they found a way to win. Just like I had seen throughout the season the team just simply refused to lose. They rose up when they needed to to make a play. This does not happen often, so conventional wisdom finds its place in the opinions of folks that may really know what they are talking about. But there is a reason they play the game.

Let me explain that. IF, during the rematch, if Alabama won by three or less, I would not consider them the best team, but, Alabama won by 21.

Well you said the best team should win every game they play so by your own definition Alabama is not the best. There will be no way to determine the best team in College Football until there is a legitimate playoff system and anyone who believes otherwise is an idiot.

The best team should win every game but with the rematch that kind of screwed that up. People don't want to hear it but the two best teams were in the same division this year but Alabama is the best team. They had no business losing that first game.
