anyone else think he looks like a certain 3 point goggle wearing fool?
Ugh yes. We could only hope he could shoot like that though if we got him.
This does got against Coach A's rule. Id like to see his percentages from 3, if he is above 40% I want him.

EDIT: Only shot 14 3's all year.

athletic yet short PG with great vision.. like. unable or unwilling to shoot the 3, dislike.

I liked what I saw...in college though some of his inside stuff wouldn't work but he has good shooting form and you need shooters like that to space the floor

I think it takes a pretty big talent to justify giving a 6th scholarship this year, and I'm not sure Stalzer qualifies. I'd rather be patient here.

The stats, star ratings, and offer list may not be impressive, but, keep in mind he's playing at Mater Dei. The other four starters on the team are not only D-1 players, but they're all top-100 ranked players. He wasn't asked to score a lot. That being said it sounds like he was the "glue" player on the team; the leader on and off the court who made everything run smoothly and he has good vision and is a good passer. That's what you want out of PG. He's also got good size for the position and he can dunk so he must be a pretty good athlete too. I also saw one article which called him the best defensive player on his team. As far as shooting goes he shot 33% from three which is decent and i'm sure it will get better. Basically I think he's like a better version of Nate Tomlinson.

Then we must take him. I need a new player on the team to hate.

Agreed, I'd rather save the scholarship for '13 player or a transfer but I think that Boyle has earned the benfit of the doubt. I think that this offer along with another PG we just offered might be an indication that Shannon Sharpe has informed the team he's transfering.

Yeah, I get it. But do we need two backup PG's in this class? I'd much rather pursue a grad transfer who can come in and make an impact from day 1, then open up the scholarship again next year. If that fails, I wouldn't mind taking Stalzer as a late signee (I do think we need another ballhandler next year), but at this point, I think he should be a backup plan.

This was my first thought. Haven't had a chance to see the video yet, but because of the school you have to consider him.

"Tad just kept coming out and watching Xavier, and I think he fell in love with Eli and what he can do," Mater Dei head coach Gary McKnight said during an interview with the Camera on Thursday night. "He can really handle the ball, he can play the point or the two, and we usually put him on the other team's best player to defend."

Thorburn is calling our recruiting class the Coors 6-Pack. Weak.

But a big Buff welcome to Eli! Don't worry, frosh, AllBuffs will come up with a better nickname for you!

Welcome aboard eli.... one question...who else is leaving... cause as of right now we technically have no spots for next year

Strange for a right hander to love going left so much.
Welcome to the Buffs!!

I would imagine this move means at least #2 will not be back. I honestly dont see Mills returning either. He quickly is going to be buried on this depth chart unless something miraculous happens with his game.

Joe Davidson of Max Preps is tweeting up a storm about this kind right now:

Talked to Mater Dei coach Gary McKnight, seeking record 9th state title & team captain leader Eli Stalzer, also a gifted piano player.TALENT!

That is a great note.Wow.Eli Stalzer of Mater Dei plays piano at half of game, then runs the team.Rest of us can barely play drums.

Welcome....hopefully this guy can also become a spot up eagle up 3 point shooter.....could definitely use a Levi Knutson/Blair Wilsonesque player

I didn't like Nate for the first 3 years. But I thought he really improved this year. There would be a lapse every now and then, but dude played hard on defense. I think he finally understood his role and he was a much better player because of it.

Welcome Eli. Not the greatest class balance in positions/numbers, but I trust in Boyle

I'm gonna agree with you, but only for the 2d half of his senior season.

Was originally skeptical about this... But he seems to have strong leadership characteristics. The type of player we will be sad to see leave when his eligibility is up.

A bit of a head scratcher. I've been looking forward to some big name blue chip ball players coming here with the momentum we've built.

My guess is that Boyle loves this kid. He looks like a coaches favorite type of player. Good floor leader who gives consistent effort on defense and takes smart shots.

In Tad I trust. But I can't wait to see some elite talent dominating in the Coors Event Center!
