Scoreboards

So here's your morning update. I'll try to post another one depending on how the day goes. I was also able to figure out the digital camera situation so I have fresh, quality pics for you today. I'll get the boring stuff out of the way first. No movement on the field level board yet today. The north board is crawling with telecommunications guys and electricians. I saw three of their vehicles when I went to creep. My guess is that we won't see any installation going on over there for at least a week or so but I will keep checking.

Now to the good stuff. They have moved in a few more pieces of the south board. I'll let the pics speak for themselves:

Finally gave my first rep to Golden because some actual progress was made and it was zoomed in enough for us to actually see it. For the first few posts it looked like he was uploading the same pictures because nothing had really changed, but I didn't want to point it out in dickish form in fear he would stop updating.

Good on ya, Golden!

I promised/was roped into daily updates so that's what I delivered. I'll take the rep where I can get it though.

Where's the pendulum shot? Neg rep.

I leaned like crazy and zoomed in as much as I could. I don't actually walk by the tower until I leave work so this will have to do for now.

South board is done, in stadium right now

Incorrect. There's still 75% another row of 4 pieces to be installed at the top AND they have to finish the ribbon board along the bottom. I literally JUST got back from looking. More pics are forthcoming. I just have to get them off of my camera and since I basically have to use my phone as a card reader, it takes a moment.

EDIT: I took too long to post and didn't see your retraction. Sorry, Nut.

Whoever decided to build that and block the Flatirons deserves to be shot

Duane Physics is one of the better buildings on campus to rock climb. Disclaimer - using the campus as a rock climbing gym is also a good way to get arrested and fined.

It appears that they are done for today and will be finishing up tomorrow (hopefully), so here's today's last update. There are three more panels to be installed on the south side. I haven't seen any activity on the field today and the north end remains in the prep phase. Also, I got wspy a pendulum shot to tide him over. I'm hoping to have pictures of a completed board tomorrow!

Golden, Just think how much rep you're going to get if you can get a photo when they fire the boards up for testing. This board will go nuts!

PICS OR GTFO! I can't believe this. You say this, with no pics. NO REP FOR YOU. However, I'm super stoked.
I was working and took pics on my iPhone, so no way to post to AB until I got home. Thanks GoldenBuff for providing views from the West, here are my views from the East (click for enlarge):

Also to die. My friend died swinging from a crane near the art building. :(

I am pleased to report that the south board is DONE. They are still working on the ribbon board beneath, as you can see from the pictures. I'm hoping to snap a few more of a 100% complete south end later this afternoon. I'll also swing by the north end just to make sure nothing exciting has happened.

I miss that pendulum.

edit: whoa awesome! I wonder how long they will be testing it and working out the gliches. GB you are not done yet.

You knew that guy? I remember that. I remember thinking that he must have been a total moron to do something like that. That was what? 4-5 years ago?

Count me as one who is disappointed with the size of the South Board. The pics that BuffNut posted still make it look small. I did a quick paint rendering to show what the South board would look like if you extended the max height of the board along the current ribbon boards. I certainly do not think that this larger board would be overwhelming or take away from the 'feel' of Folsom, but it would be impressive.

In a perfect world. But that would easily cost a couple million more. We have bigger problems than scoreboards

I think I read somewhere that the boards are the size they are because of wind concerns. Any larger and they'd present too big of a surface.

That said, I think it would be cool to extend the ribbon boards all the way around the South side of the stadium.

Are you people forgetting how windy it gets in Boulder?

It was longer ago than that. Time flies, huh? I was actually closer friends with the guy who had to cut him down. And yeah, it wasn't the smartest thing to do, but they had done it many times before without incident.

what were they trying to do and what really happened, if you don't mind sharing? I went back and read the articles and they weren't really sure.
