The Buffs volleyball team (9-3, 1-1) coming off of a disappointing 5 set loss to Wyoming, will face their toughest test of the season when they face #1 Washington (10-0, 2-0) at 7pm MT in Boulder. Washington is coming off of a 4 set win vs Oregon last Friday and are ranked #1 for the first time since 2005. The game will be televised by the Pac-12 Network and will be available online for subscribers. Chris Marlowe (play-by-play) and Al Scates (color) will provide the talent against Washington. The first 500 fans on Friday night will receive free pom-poms from the CU Bookstore and the first 100 students will get a free CU Gold Diggers T-Shirt. Below is a short preview of UW from their website.

Washington earned impressive road wins last week at Washington State in straight sets and in four sets at No. 21 Oregon. The Huskies are now ranked No. 3 in the nation with a .337 attack percentage, and held the Cougars and Ducks to a combined .125 attack mark last week. Washington’s 21.5 blocks in the win at Oregon was its most in a four-set match in the last ten years.

Junior Krista Vansant earned Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week this week for the fourth time in her career. She led UW with 13 kills at WSU and 17 at Oregon, hitting .348 for the week. The win at Oregon was the first road win over a top-25 Pac-12 team for the Huskies since a 3-0 win at No. 6 UCLA in 2009. The 25-8 fourth set was also UW's best set against a Pac-12 opponent since holding Arizona State to a 30-7 score in a win in 2005.

Just going to sit and cheer and watch the game. Volleyball is awesome.

How's the crowd?

I'm stuck with Live Stats for the score. Looks like they've just been trading points for a while and then a small CU run to go up 19-13.

Buffs win first set 25-17 even after losing a point out of the last timeout because the music was left on.

I have nothing to compare the crowd to. First game I've been able to make. Seems like quite a bit of people to me. Seen less at a CU basketball game in the 90s.

2nd set has been a war! 14-13 Buffs. Back and forth. UDub wants this set badly and the Buffs aren't backing down.

Another set point at 25-24.

Buffs take it!

26-24!

Buffs up 2-0 on #1 Washington!

'Buffs outplaying UW right now.

I thought at the beginning of the set that the winner takes it all tonight.

So far Buffs have a commanding lead. I'm impressed!

Don't go all classy on us while I'm in the middle of a premature celebration, Fuskie! YOU WILL LOSE AT ALTITUDE! :gobuffs:

I'm enjoying the Pac 12 network for games like this. It is nice to see other sports get some tv time. Fun to watch when we are winning too!

I've seen nothing tonight that would indicate anything otherwise.

Perhaps this is the true welcoming of CU to the Pac. A 2+ page thread on volleyball:nod: And a domination of two Top11 teams in a week.

BTW it's a shame these beautiful female athletes have not gotten the exposure that men's sports get. I love me some volleyball and soccer rather than listen to a blathering east-coast biased ESPN Game Center... I love the Pac-12 Network!
