'14 CO PG Dominique Collier (Signed to Colorado)

Now I'm really interested...this kid sees the whole court... 50-50 chance he sees his Jr year...might even hit 80+% of FTs.. The missing piece to the Boyle puzzle.

Dom was behind me in line at the game. He's definitely had a growth spurt. I'm 6'5" (apparently I'm shrinking in my old age) and we were roughly the same height.

You're easily 6'5".

Holy **** if you're eyeball-to-eyeball with him.

You should have asked him to line up back to back and let Swan measure who is taller. Now we will never know.

If Dom is anywhere near 6'5", with the improvement he showed in his jumper this summer, he could be an absolutely elite-level PG recruit. That sounds like the Mayor's senior year development.

OK hoop heads - does Dom step in and start at PG next year, or does XT get the keys to the Corvette? I have to be honest, XT has impressed me so far this year. I think his game has really stepped up.

PG is the toughest position to play, learn and most important in basketball (Dinwiddie even even played off the ball his frosh year and Nate ran the point most of the year). It may be one of those things where he doesn't start the beginning of the season but starts at the middle/end. He's a good sized kid and is already used to playing high level AAU ball and played on the U17 World team which is a big bonus for him, so getting used to the speed and talent won't be as much of an issue as it was with Talton last year. Talton wasn't used to the speed or talent early in the season and where Eli was used to that already. It took Talton 3/4 a year to catch-up in that department and ultimately his superior talent over Eli translated into playing time.

He'll undoubtedly be in Boulder in June and working on putting on some weight, and with Tad, the sooner you learn how to play his brand of defense the sooner you play.

The good thing is that nobody will get handed the keys to anything at this point. XT, J-Hop and also Ski can be the primary ball handler for next year's team. Dom's good enough to take it, but he'll have to earn his minutes. As J-Hop is learning right now, that's not easy to do. Got to have the team defense concepts down cold, have every scouting report down cold before games (unlike HS, where you don't really have that), and also be able to lead the team through the offensive sets without losing flow or making turnovers. It's a tough job.

I was thinking about ski at PG. The thought intrigues me. I think he'd be pretty good, actually. I wonder who slides into the "2" spot, though. I think this is where Jenkins leaving might hurt us more than we thought it would. Although on Planet Tad, nobody plays only one position, so I guess it's a moot point.

Yeah. If you think back to Nate's senior year, he pretty much brought the ball up, called the offense, got it into motion and then ran the baseline. He was our PG, but the ball was mostly in Carlon's or Mayor's hands once they got into scoring mode.

One thing in his favor is that Tad tends away from clearly defined roles. Whoever gets the point will have others who can take the pressure off in handling the ball. Also Tad doesn't have an issue with splitting minutes so we could see a lot of Dom and XT and even some others getting some of the time and responsibility.

That said I think that one of the reasons the Tad recruited Dom was because he saw a need for a court general, someone to "run" the offense, especially with the problems we tend to see at times in the half court. He may not start out in charge of the ball but as time goes by it would be reasonable to expect to see him more and more in charge.

I have a feeling that Tad is going to make CU known for churning out big athletic PG's that are shut down defenders as well as big scorers.

Any chance this was someone else? Someone on Rivals asked William Whelan about a reported growth spurt and Will replied "He does look like he got another inch or so on him, yes."

Since Rivals has him listed at 6'1", that might mean he's 6'2"?

Will is 6'3" or a little over. Last time he interviewed Dom, Dom was taller than Will.

Pretty sure it was him, when I also saw him before Harvard game I said "Hey Dom, excited to see you out there next year" he replied "Can't wait". We then talked for a couple of minutes. Ronnie Herrell was with him, also talked with Ronnie about how good of school and program Creighton is. Dom also had a Denver East letter-man's jacket on that said "Dom". But next time I'll make sure to card him to be 100% confident.

As for the height, I'm right at 6 foot, Dom was several inches taller than me and closer to Ronnie in height (he's listed as 6'7) than me.

Not sure why you insist on being a smart ass. It was a valid question.

Will has a video interview with him. As nik said, Will is 6'3" and Dom looks a bit taller
