Bartlett was the Gatorade Wyoming POY as a junior in helping Cheyenne East to the state title. He is also a national class wrestler, a two-time state champion (182 as a freshman and 195 as a sophomore). He was in Boulder on an unofficial visit on Monday (hat tip to Adam on this one).

Just a general Rep for Duff for all the work that he is doing in this forum. Lots of new profiles going up in the last couple of days.

Thanks for the hard work.

I like this early offer a lot. Tevis may very well be the best athlete in the state of WY. Expect he will get much more attention/offers

Spoke with Tevis Bartlett and Cheyenne East coach Chad Goff. Bartlett has offers from Colorado, Colorado State and Wyoming. CU recruiting him more as an athlete, where Wyoming is all in as a QB, CSU offered recently. Wyoming offered him at the start of his sophomore season. Bartlett's father went to Wyoming and they are Pokes fans, but he's open to playing anywhere. His dream is to get to the NFL. He said he probably won't pick a school until the end of football season.

Bartlett's planning on visiting some East coast schools this spring during wrestling tournaments and said he wouldn't mind wrestling in college. He's hearing form Cornell in wrestling and football, among others.

Goff said Bartlett scored every one of the team's touchdowns in the playoffs during last fall's state championship run. He said Wyoming's Gatorade Player of the Year could end up as a collegiate safety. Bartlett loves to hit people.

If his goal is the NFL, unless he is a great QB prospect, seems like Wyoming might not be the best option, if, indeed, they are recruiting him as a QB.

Fits at TE, DE, or OLB. So who knows.

Not that I'm any grand predictor of these things, but I immediately thought he looked like a good linebacker prospect. Do we know what kind of speed he has?

If his coach thinks he may play safety in college we must assume he would be more than fast enough to play lb with added weight

"He's done a great job leading the offense the last two years. Defensively, playing the free safety position, he led the 4A in solo tackles, 57 solo tackles this year. He's not afraid to come up and make a hit. He plays safety like a linebacker. He's pretty valuable to us." -- Cheyenne East coach Chad Goff

Wanted to give buffaholic a shout out. Spoke to Tevis after the spring game and CU definitely is open to him coming in and competing at QB.

I'd say we're the favorite at the moment.

Does that mean you are hearing that he is definitely choosing football over wrestling then. Seems like a tough pair of sports to do in college, but WY has that advantage. I hope you are right on this. He is a stud.

1. Wyo
2. CU

3. CSU

According to rivals. I think that will be his final group and he won't go far from the front range, unless a school like Nebraska offers imo.

Utah has offered and an article on Rivals is showing interest from some much bigger boys now..... Feel like he could really blow up here before fall.

Allure of playing in a P5 conference competing with a desire to stay closer to home. Think I've got the perfect compromise...

Does position affect his recruiting?

Doesn't seem to be a big factor. He loves playing defense.

Funny thing with the Bartlett recruiting is that I think most CU fans would have been ho-hum about him if he'd committed a few months ago. Now, with all the interest we're seeing in him and the more we know about him, I think we've pretty much all realized that he's a stud who would be a near-lock to have at least a productive college career at our level.

I'm a big fan. He certainly fits the HCMM wish for tremendous athletes that play multiple sports and can play anywhere on the football field.

Also seems like a quality individual who will take care of business both on and off the field. Leadership guy.

I agree. His state championship highlights showed me probably the best athlete of anyone being recruited by us as a quarterback, and although I had serious reservations about his passing from that film I think you make an offer based on potential anywhere on the field. That versatility is going to help somewhere.
