'15 WY ATH Tevis Bartlett (Verbal to Washington)

Not sure "right in there" means #2. Could be just a sign of respect to the local program that showed him love. I would think the highest level of competition & a good education would matter to a kid like this.

Not sure it matters, either.

Definitely this. A nod to the locals.

UW is a really good choice as they just had one of the best defenses in the country and I think they had 3 first team All-Americans. That's on one team. To me, it's the only campus that rivals CU in all areas.

He must of taken an unofficial to UW? He seemed to have a plan for recruiting and did a good job with it and picked the best School for himself. Good luck to you, Tevis.

Good luck Tevis.

Not a big surprise. Just never thought we were in the lead with him.

We are going to beat the huskies next year.

Get on the bus.... Or get under it.

Shoot, I thought the Bartlett family was going to enjoy the 2 hour drive to watch him play down here. Guess they won't mind just one game every two years. Hopefully we nail the other LB. Huge need and opportunity to play 4 years straight.

Won't even be that. CU has played UW every year in the Pac-12 so far, so over the next 5 I doubt there will be more than 1 trip by them to Boulder.

I wonder if Peterson wasn't on him a long time ago when he was at Boise. Boise has a history of recruiting states like Wyoming, Montana, the Dakotas, etc.

This may have been a case of do I stay home or do I go with the guy who has been on me for a couple years at a P5 school.

CU has been recruiting Bartlett as long as anyone. Next excuse.

It's an excuse, not an acceptable excuse but an excuse.

We are unfortunately dealing with a lot of those right now.

Sooner than later we either have to start winning at least some of these recruiting battles or we need to bring in some assistants who can.

I could understand if he went to Wyoming, that is his homestate school. I could deal with him going to a school for wrestling.

What I don't see is any reason why he would go to Washington instead of CU other than we got out recruited. Unfortunately it looks like the same story on a number of other kids we needed this year as well.

That's okay because we can always go poach Samford's to recruit.

More success and better facilities. Sorry, that's the last time I'm going to bring up this argument.

Better facilities are not valid since by the time he gets to school we will be fairly close to done with our current improvements. UW isn't Oregon, they have good facilities but not game changers. CU also has a nicer campus.

UW has had more recent success but not to long ago they were worse than the 2012 Buffs. If you are going to use recent success as an excuse we might as well just fold up shop and go home because since everyone has been better than us recently then we should get no recruits that anyone else wants and always suck.

Quality recruiters sell a vision that is stronger than the recent past, that is how you turn programs. If you can't do that then you need to be replaced.

Are we going to get every recruit we want who has other quality offers? No, no school does that. The problem is that outside of a couple in-state kids we look to be going fairly close to O-fer again this year. Don't want to sound negative but facts are facts.

This probably doesn't belong in a recruits thread but the quoted poster hasn't antied up the 15 bucks to see this in Barzil.

I believe facilities are still a valid reason, as a recruit can't physically see them right now. You can show me a picture all you want, but to really be wowed enough to choose to go to school somewhere, there's nothing like seeing them in use.

Regardless, I do agree about the vision aspect, and I believe that and early playing time are the two biggest selling points of CU. Putting myself in a 4-5* recruit's shoes, though, they're being sold on National/Conference Championships rather than being part of a rebuilding process. It's just an uphill battle for the CU's of the world, until they start seeing more success on the field, IMO.

Sorry, mods, I will end this discussion in a recruit thread. What is Barzil?

I find that banning is unnecessary when there is a perfectly good ignore list for trolls and idots.

I agree. I'm so glad we can ignore people with differing opinions. "That way we can go through our entire lives without ever having to really know anybody." Name that movie!

Does Washington have a wrestling team?

No, but their intramural salmon fishing team is the BEST. The BEST, I tell ya.

Washington: Nice campus, scenery, city. A non-bottomfeeding W/L record.

I'd guess they WY really was his second choice. This guy is possibly the next John Wendling.

Would have liked him here.

Bartlett's quotes on Rivals were very telling in my opinion. To paraphrase, he said Seattle isn't Cheyenne. It's something completely different and he wanted to get out of his comfort zone.

Maybe it's just my interpretation, but all this conjecture about other factors like wrestling etc. is just noise. I think the kid just wanted to go someplace different and Seattle provided that, along with a fine education and a decent football team.
