Official D coordinator search thread (DJ Eliot hired?)

color me impatient at this point. we have 3 guys on the road recruiting whose voices haven't cracked yet.

it is time to get it done.

I honestly wonder if Bernardi has gone on the road to recruit at all

That's one thing among this mess that I personally feel is getting over looked. Sure, D Coordinator is a more important position, but I really was looking forward to seeing who replaced Bernardi. He needs to go... ...HCMM has three hires (including replacing Bernardi) to make while hitting the recruiting trail... ...I'm not an angry fan, and I fully support HCMM. However, yes, I am feeling a little angst...

2. I was surprised because that report ran counter to what I would expect from Riley, who I have always respected.

I get the respect. But other than college coaching there is no public feedback and discussion forum on how personnel decisions are made and executed. A barista gets fired from Starbucks, there is no public shaming of the manager that let him go. An executive at Disney gets fired, no debate in public about what words where used to fire her or if it was done over the phone,

The level of gossip and examination of ideas and actions that are so far removed from CU football is mind boggling. I keep forgetting that this is why knitting circles exist.

Is this true or nah?
So here's the straight scoop. CU was well down the path of hiring Sirmon. MSU found out about it and approached the Louisville DC, and hired him. Then Colorado changed it's mind re: Sirmon as some superstar decided to become the DC at Colorado and gratis at that. So Sirmon was informed the job was filled. He quickly called up Petrino at Louisville who was happy to have him.

So who is the superstar?

It's twilight for Nebraska. They haven't won anything in ages, no recruiting footprint, waning academics, terrible economy in the state. It's pretty sad. It's no wonder BuffSurveyor is here trying to prop his team up against its dimming fortunes.

With that, let's get the thread back on track discussing the DC search for the University of Colorado.

Seattle done - can we expect a Rocky Seto announcement tomorrow? Had high hopes on HCMM tie with Hobby, but moving west may have been too much for that southerner.

Isn't Seto AHC at Seattle?

Why would an NFL AHC become a DC in college? It would almost certainly be a pay cut.

They have a couple AHC's and a Defensive Coordinator, so not sure how the hierarchy works there. If he could get Brennan Carroll to come with him it would be worth this wait, but this is all probably a pipe dream.

So maybe AHC is just a title to keep other NFL teams from picking him off.

Still, probably come with a pay cut. Maybe there's a prestige factor that could be sold.

Any way, probably a pipe dream, I agree.

Highly doubt it's Seto. I'm sure that dude has been offered jobs before and apparently prefers to just hang with Carroll.

Seto hasnt been a full time position coach in the NFL. He's just been a "defensive assistant" or quality control or passing game coordinator or asst DBs. Wonder if the AHC title came as a "promotion" from Carroll without giving him a full time position job. In other words, I don't think that title is as high up as it sounds.

As the poster who's minimized recruiting during the last N years, I feel Mac wants to run the D.
Is looking for young, smart and emerging, who can also fire up kids like Chiv does, while recruiting very well. Based on the guy he lost to Petrino.
Not sure Tosh's Cal departure will ever sit well with Mac (or me).
Frankly feel (if he's a smart FB guy) that he's the direction we should go. Please note that IF.

This is probably Tosh getting convinced by Bama to stay, given he's turned down other offers. Not sure Bama wants to lose Lane, Cristobal, and Tosh all in 1 year and money isn't an issue.
