Official D coordinator search thread (DJ Eliot hired?)

What are our coaches, that are recruiting, telling the recruits? Hard to believe nothing gets leaked out by someone. If I had a kid being recruited I would be asking who their coach is going to be, pretty sure the questions has been asked.

Coaches don't look for guys they get along with when hiring assistants. They look for guys that can coach and make the program better. Honestly, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a lot of coaches who would get along with MM. His persona is somewhat of an outlier in the coaching world.
And Ulbrich is also an outlier. Frankly he left UCLA for the NFL, ****ing over UCLA, I don't see him coming back to college, the NFL is a better fit for him.

You gotta think they've got somebody in mind and are keeping a lid on it. That's fine with me but would hope the recruits would know of news in the situation.

I get your point but they don't owe us on our timeline. Good point though.

I don't think fans are dictating the time line. The fans simply acknowledge the recruiting calendar as mandated by the NCAA and recognize that recruiting is the lifeblood of the program.

Coming out of the quiet period down several coaches at this point in the calendar is more disconcerting than hitting the final stretch with a full staff.

The NCAA recruiting timeline isn't a fan thing. It's a college football thing.

Please enlighten me on how message boards work, world traveler, American, knower of all.
Since you asked:

Message boards allow people to opine publicly on subjects that are important to them. While it's true that at times some asshole will belittle or attempt to discredit those opinions, most people simply don't feel it necessary to do so.

I get all that but Mac2 does it his way period. It's frustrating but it's who he is.

Yep, bottom line is we're trying to close out a very important recruiting class and we're doing it short handed, so there better be a damn good reason.

I don't know about your take.
Seems like the goal might not be to encourage participants to share opinions.

This noble outlook perhaps falls short of the reality of message boards.

Maybe message boards exist to promote group think and conformity.

People who are not laissez faire are on message boards to curate their agenda and to shape the opinions of others through the relentless brow beating of participants until there is a conformity of thought.

Imagine heaven on earth being a place where everyone thinks and interactes with people exactly like Tscheckler does! That is a winning message board, right there.

Stuart @MontanaBuff said it best.
CU is looking for Mr. Right, not Mr. Right Now.

Oregon seemingly got both over a month ago.

We don't know why, nor do we have the right to know. But patience is a virtue. Trust in MacIntyre. He's got this.

At least that's the optimists mantra.

I am thoroughly entertained by the last 20 pages of meltdown in this thread.

It is gripping reading. That's for sure. Like a Shakespeare, there is both comedy and tragedy. Cant wait to see what happens in the final act.

BTW - I'm not so much defending Sacky. But I do agree with his point that this message board is at its best when there is a broad variety of opinions and outlooks.

This site is bigger than just the opinions of a dozen or so well aged 35 year olds, no matter how well intentioned they (we) may be.

And they were half right. Leavitt was also on a staff where Harbaugh left and was in a bit of limbo as to what his options were going to be at that point.
Leavitt was let go on the 15th and hired in February. Between that, we weren't doing nothing.

15th of what? January? Thats 3 weeks of time without work. He was also in discussions of being Michigan's DC. Not all that long or surprising.
We weren't waiting on him, the suggestion that we're waiting on an NFL coach who is still active and that was true two years ago is just plain inaccurate and two different things. Also Durkin was the Michigan DC hire long before that.
"On January 5, 2015, sources confirmed that Durkin was hired as the defensive coordinator of the Michigan Wolverines football team. The hire reunited Durkin with new Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh. Michigan confirmed the hire on January 8, and announced that Durkin would also coach linebackers."

Long before that? Harbaugh was hired at UM on 12/30. DJ Durkin was hired on 1/5

Yeah so Leavitt being in the DC running at Michigan is irrelevant since he was hired at CU a month after they made Durkin official (and he was long suspected before that). Also Tomsula was hired on January 14th, which is why it took so long for Leavitt to be officially let go. But we weren't waiting on him, since he was you know, available, and we were looking at other guys (Kacy Rodgers) beforehand but that fell through (he was hired at the Jets on the 23rd) in which case the Leavitt hire then came together and he was totally available at the time.

Actually, also so I don't have to think about the basketball team.

That's probably 5%.

Which puts me over, I know.

But I'm still going with 5% not thinking about the basketball team, so whatever the hell leaves the other percentages, that's what it is.

Math it out yourselves, if you GAF.

Klayton Adams just followed DJ Eliot, Kentucky DC. For whatever that's worth.
Do our assistants attend AFCA also, or just the HC? I'm thinking the networking that goes on there might explain some of these random connections.
