CU Coaching Discussion

Nah, he needs to stay. He's a good coach. I'm tired of the gun shy "ah we're losing, fire the coach after a year or two". Yes, it'd be nice to win, but when your program is a merry-go-round it turns into a constant issue of false hope and constant rebuilding. I think we can do earnest rebuilding under Mac.

Nah @ he’s white and CU’s kind of guy. Let’s keep him for another 3-4 years of losing.

5 years is a respectable amount of time to build a program especially with all the resources he had received.

Mac didn't care about recruiting the first 4-5 classes. If ever.

Our talent level is 100% his fault

Mac is the right coach right now for this program and this team. He just won coach of the year and deserved it for what was magically put together last year. But, under the current arrangement of assistants and decision making, his range of potential success/failure per season is 4-8 wins. 10 wins was a miracle, and 3 wins almost happened this year. He must make upgrades. Clarify the stupid Co-Offensive Coordinator crap, and demote Lindgren or hopefully he gets offered a HC job at a lesser school. Tell Elliott that he has one more year to fix the defense since they are so young, they may make strides next year, but this years trend sucks. Better recruiting on the DL and Linebackers, a more hard core attitude about success, and if he can win 8 games a year with a special win season here and there he can stay.

Slider of course takes it too far, but no one should be satisfied right now. Holy ****.
I have grave concerns about Mac. I really like the guy and pull for him. But maybe he's a good rebuilder who cannot sustain. He really has no track record of sustained excellence. As for recruiting, he just is not a dynamic personality and I wonder if he can really "wow" a recruit. What he is good at, it appears, is that he is a good organizer. He needs to lose his "loyalty" to his assistants a bit. I'd bet firing a guy is really hard for him.

Are you profiling here?

Obviously the tackling is terrible, the o-line is terrible, the offense is decent & the defense is not. We got the win on the road, so I will take that, but coach Mac has a lot of issues/questions to answer before next week. Like.......
The run defense is a f’ing joke

This is very reasonable.

I want him to be successful for our sake and also because he seems like a quality person who does truly care about other people.

I'm not going to close the book on him, lot's of us last year came into the season hoping for a 6-7 win season and thinking 8 wins was his ceiling, he got 10.

My concern though is that this is now his team top to bottom and we simply have not recruited the way we have to if we want to compete. The depth charts on both lines are scary.

Much of this in my view is due to him being far to loyal to some assistants that are not pulling their weight, especially in recruiting.

If Mac has a future in Boulder he is going to have to be willing to replace some assistants with some who are willing and able to recruit at the needed level to maintain a winning P5 program.
