There were over 20 teams that grabbed a top 100 recruit last year, including the buffs. That is definitely not the top 10% of teams.

Lol whatever dude, ASU, cal, UCLA, Arkansas, Houston and many more aren’t going ANYWHERE on 1 recruit. Nebraska had a recruit, they suck ass.

But if you’d like the cold hard facts, FOURTY ONE top 100 players went to Michigan, ole miss, Georgia, USC, Alabama, Clemson and Ohio State, all with at least 5. That’s less than 10% of all the teams in division 1 getting 41% of the top players in the country.

Concerned is different than upset. I have a lot of concerns and I was really worried about today considering the injuries at NT with the style of team we were playing. I'm really happy to get a win and stop the bleeding of the losing streak (the last 2 being really tough, close losses). Should be healthier next week on defense and the offense is starting to play well.

I thought it was a great day.

And both Nebraska and bailer got rolled.

I honestly expected the board to be pumped up tonight and have been blown away by what I've seen. Talk is about firing coaches. Very little about Bobo's great game or Lindsay killing it and now being just a few yards from a thousand yard season already. I expected Allbuffs to be celebrating the win.

offense has put together a bunch of sustained drives over the last two games. They are getting it done. Maybe the addition of Tui and big fat fatty fat next week will make a difference.

As to firing all the coaches. It is just drunken hyperbole. There is one individual who has been advocating for firing the head coach for a long time.

Cal and Utah have each recruited 6 4* players so far between the 2017 and 2018 classes, Stanford had 3 5* in 2017.

Why are we not generally drawing those level of players yet? Do we need more time for the lost decade to pass and the new facilities to take hold? Or is there something about the coaches and/or recruiting philosophy that needs to evolve also?

Well biggest thing I would say it local recruiting grounds but I agree, we should be able to pull some of these guys after last year.

Why does anyone care how much CU is paying Eliot? They are paying him market rate for a P5 DC. Whether he’s a good one or not, they have to pay for the position, and it’s a good thing that they are showing the commitment to pay assistants.

I don't get why everyone is so upset about Eliot's average pay, but it does suck to see DeRuyter have so much success at Cal so quickly at half the pay of our guy. DeRuyter was mentioned by a ton of people on here too.. but Mac knows best

I'd like someone to explain the DC hire and why this clown is worth $700k. It was clear he was not the best when hired, but heck, he's a coach, so throw the money at him. We would have been much better off with someone who understands the game. Barnett yesterday: after a big 3rd down screen pass, 2nd half, 'they should have known that a draw or screen was coming. they seemed to have no awareness'. 3rd quarter, after a big 3rd down pass over the middle 'they know if they put that man in motion, CU's defense opens up in the middle and they can get any easy gain. 3rd time this game. ucla did it a number of times last week. osu watched the film' (but we didn't?)

This. The middle was WIDE OPEN all game. I remember yelling at the TV during the UCLA game b/c they would run seemingly the same damn route every 3rd down and it would be wide open. OSU apparently got the memo and the same s*** happened again. No adjustments from Elliot. This D looks as clueless as the Embree years

I agree to a point, but in 2017 Nebr**** had 7 4* recruits and Wisconsin had 5 4* and even Oregon St had 2 4* and only 1 of these 14 4* recruits was in state.

Hope my tone is one of trying to understand why we are lagging.

I agree, what's being scrutinized by the 4*s now is whether or not coming to CU will enhance their chances of getting into the league. Recruiting inroads into TX have yielded some very good players recently and I don't want to see that interrupted.

Criticizing the job he's doing is fair, but being upset by how much CU is paying him is dumb. Would you feel better about our defense if Eliot was being paid less? I wouldn't. If you don't like the results then change the coach, not the budget.

Maybe because jeffcoat is on staff? If you are going to pay market rate for a dc you better make sure he deserves that pay and the assistants below him are good enough.

Simple...it was more than we'd paid in the past which raises expectations. In this case most fans are thinking we got jobbed for the money based on the results we've seen so far.

You will never see me complain about CU paying market rate for a coach.

I'll question the hires that get made, have my own favorites for certain jobs, but then I'll support coaches once they're here (sometimes for longer than I probably should).

But pay scale? Hell, we should be celebrating the fact that CU is paying its coordinators at the high end of a bottom third P5 program now. I wish we were able to be paying $2M instead of $1.5M for the OC/DC slots.

There is no building happening in this program right now. Building is recruiting above the level of your predecessors. That isn't happening in this program right now and it doesn't look like it is going to under this staff. That's the bottom line.

No one would be mad about this season if the staff was killing it on the recruiting trail and the games were exactly the same. CU is going to be in the bottom half of the Pac 12 year in and year out without a sustained commitment to recruiting.

Not true at all. How can you possibly think that we are not out recruiting what we have done in the past 10 years? We have steadily trended up. Last year was a great haul. This year has been slower, but all 3 stars.

The present class is a clear step back from 2017.

Also, it is important to note the range of 3* players. There is a big difference at the top and bottom of the range.

No, I'm with you on that. I'm just saying, it's not surprising people are going to complain about the guy when there's someone else more experienced and producing better results being paid half of what our guy is.

I'm glad CU didn't try to cheap out.

I expected a bit of a drop off from last year. Felt 7-5 was a realistic goal. They have probably underachieved by 1-2 games of that mark.

Obviously, like others have stated - defense and recruiting are my concerns. With that said, I wouldn't support firing Mac, unless it was bringing in someone that was an obvious and clear improvement over him

Who in the coaching world is within CU's reach that is a better option than the reigning Coach of the Year?

CU's wallet is only so big. Poaching Saban or Harbaugh or Belichick isn't going to happen. Could CU afford to buy our Leavitt's contract, assuming that bridges aren't irrevocably burned?

Probably not much Regent support (Kroll) to buy out Mac's recently extended contract.

Tressle or Miles or Dave Logan? Umm. Really?

Could RG convince Patterson to leave TCU?

Who could CU realistically get that is better than the mastermind of The Rise?

I've been told many times on here that a win is a win and a loss is a loss no matter how you look at it.

Buffs may not be a good team this year but they are still a far cry from Embree era. We seem strikingly similar to 2015, so here's to hoping for an uptick next year.

However the recruiting worries me, it's just not at a competitive level yet. And maybe I'm perceiving things the wrong way but HCMM doesn't seem to have the raw energy and passion that he did last year. Maybe it's because his job isn't on the line or he has some sort of personal stuff going on, idk. He just has rubbed me the wrong way this year so far and honestly looks like he doesn't give a much of a **** ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

QB, WR and RB recruiting are just fine. OL, until the last year was a train wreck...DL too. DB's see, to be in pretty good shape, and a lot of young LB's, I simply cannot figure out why CU has such a hard time getting quality OL and DL under MikMac.

Bernardi - 90 percent
Jeffcoat - 60 percent
Lindgren - 49 percent
DJ - 20 percent (should cut losses)
Hagen - 15 percent
Rest - 5-10 percent.

Will need to add 10th assistant.

I say over/under is 3. I really hope MM steps away from his blind loyalty and makes changes.
