It’s unbelievable how bad the defense was at tackling this year and a think a lot of it comes from not having the energy that leavitt brought as a coordinator.

I think the fan energy and focus would be better spent on assistant coaching changes, since I think HCMM returns to CU. Get Bernardi out, get Jeffcoat out, get Lindgren out. With all the turnover in the Pac 12, there are likely some good assistants to grab if MacIntyre changes his M.O. and moves quickly.
Did you do that while chewing on tin foil? Glutton for punishment, you are. I don't have the stomach to watch it. I gave up in the 3d, watching live, I cannot imagine re-watching that ****show in the 1st 24 hours after the game.

And this is why you can’t fire him. He is not a terrible coach worth eating $9 million. Force some staff changes immediately and get them out on the road ASAP.
I agree with this. Get rid of Eliot while we are at it. Total waste of space. We need some guys who know how to light a fire under the players and get them to perform above their perceived ceilings.
MM isn’t going anywhere right now. The Ole Miss stuff is just wishful thinking. Had they won last night, or even looked moderately competent, maybe. But with the performance turned in last night, there’s nobody going to hire MM away from us. We won’t fire him because we just extended his contract. He gets another year to make staff changes and show what he can do. If we are looking at another bowl-less season this time next year, he needs to go. Next years schedule sets up well for a 7-8 win season if they just play halfway decent.
So, you’re saying “Not a chance in hell?” Oh, and we can now add some assistant positions to the buy out coffers.
We actually owe 12 mil right now, that 9 mil would be after next season.
The great, quick assistant coaching changes are wishful thinking as well. Do not expect a quick resolution if MM stays.
Of course you are right, but what makes you think MikMac will change his M.O.? If, and it is a very big if, Bernardi and JJ are canned, they will likely be replaced by some luminary like Eliot. We should be checking the list of OL and DL AC's recently demoted at P5 also ran schools, that is your interview pool.
The question is whether Mac is mentally checked out of this job or not. The narrative seems to be that he is, so if there’s any truth to that, how can RG possibly retain him for another year? I’m not saying he’ll get fired, but if neither side want to be locked into this job, then there is no choice but to figure out some kind of reworked buyout number, or the preferred option of another job.
If MM is motivated to leave, they'll find a way to make finances work. After the hit his stock took over the last 12 months on and off-field, he may just step down and pursue one of the other openings out there before he completely destroys his reputation.

I’m not a McIntyre fan by any means. But it is ludicrous to suggest he’s “checked out” and doesn’t care anymore. I suspect he’s upset and will have fire burning in his soul after this season. Say what you want about him, but one thing is certain, Mike McIntyre hates to lose. We will see how that plays out in the off season. If there aren’t staff changes made, I would question his judgement, but not his desire to win.
Of course, but I do not have much confidence in that process playing out at the moment.

I think we all need some perspective here-but a quick point first. Given this current political climate, Mike MacIntyre was fortunate to keep his job after all the Joe Tumpkin drama last year. I keep reading he is bitter and that that instance somehow damaged his relationship with his employer, and I think that is ludicrous. In my opinion, if he is bitter and has any balls whatsoever, he should do the same thing Gary Anderson did.
As far as the Ole Miss chatter.......Jens brought up a good point in an exchange I had with him on twitter. As much of a failure as this season or even last night was, using it as a microcosm for MacIntyre's tenure here is fairly short-sighted. I think we all remember where this program was when he got here, and what a disaster his predecessor was-he's done a really good job here. Its not hard to see why he makes sense down there, especially if they get hit hard (which I think happens)-he's worked there before, and he relishes in taking on challenges like the ones he's faced at SJSU and here. If he goes, it would make sense to me-and I for one will be appreciative of the work he's done here, and I'll probably root for him at Ole Miss as a result.
If he stays, this is basically a Brian Kelly type of off-season. Chev is the only assistant IMO who is safe-only because getting rid of him would do too much damage in recruiting. Of the 18 commits we have, he's listed as the primary recruiter on half of them IIRC (24/7 sports). Given Todd Graham is now on the market, I'm calling him about our DC job TODAY.

I’m expecting he stays. Therefore, he needs to reinvest big time, upgrade staff, and get on same page with RG and his players or 2018 could be a repeat of this season. Be here 100% or GTFO - enough with the hurt feelings if there still are get over it and move on, you are getting paid a ton of $ to win football games.
Because his defenses have been so fantastic lately?
And I’m 99% sure there will be changes.

The DC isn't going anywhere but the rest of the defensive staff shouldn't be comfortable today.
Or 3 MacIntyre enters the offseason and makes 1 or 2 changes, if any.
