Official Spring Practice Thread

Watching the game right now. I could watch those o line board drills all day lol.

Polley still has some big arms but man his chest and stomach looks small. I didn’t get a good look at his lower body though.

Any TE sightings yesterday?[/QUOTE

Not a single formation with a true TE.

Always in slot, sometimes wide, sometimes tight.

Bounds has the lead. Jones slipping.

Viska and KD mostly played in true 4 wide, along with Ento and Winfree.

Best 5 of Moretti, Kaiser, Lynott, Pursell, Haigler?

Figure out the positions later

If Moretti cracks the opening day lineup anywhere on the line I'll be ecstatic.

I hope Haigler winning the most improved lineman award is a good sign of things to come.

The news of Moretti looking good and playing with an edge is the best we could have asked for. That is a HUGE piece to add after we didn't know if he'd even be playing.

Not all the concerned yet. If he is still that lost on Aug 31...

Kid has all the physical tools you want in a TE, but he is thinking too much right now.

Still got time, but he looks like he has a long way to go. At least Bounds can be solid.

Then they better get him up to speed in at least a few packages, he's a weapon we can't afford to leave on the bench just because he doesn't know who to block.

The tight ends are split out most of the time. Very little real blocking.

He has issues around effort as well. Plus, stuff in the hips. Has trouble catching ball below his waist. Long ways to go on several parameters in my opinion. CU’s TEs only block downfield and on the edge.

It's a shame the P12 cut the feed but I'm sure MM doesn't mind.
Zipping through the drills..lots of number changes.
Right out of the chute Montez has developed a touch putting more air under the ball, something he struggled with last season but can be partially attributed to not knowing when the line was give him enough time one snap to the next.
When he signed I commented that the jewel of the class was Shenault, after watching the 6A state champ game here in TX it was obvious. Seeing him today allowed me to feel better because I'd been holding my breath, I thought there was a 50/50 chance that he might transfer after last season. Chiv is not going to let his talent go to waste, 500 yds & 6-9 Tds Shenault goes pro.
Fontenot will get his yards next year either as the starter or the backup, the other RB prospects have been recruited over.
No comment on the OL & DL can't guage anything after today...so I wait until the CSU game.
Ha, no one's going pro after 500 yards and 6-9 Td's. He's also a Sophomore so he can't leave for the draft.

Stiffness was an observation apparent from his tape. Good straight line speed but looked like he'd have trouble adjusting to the ball in flight .

Just based on what little I saw today, Lytle looks like he should have a pretty clear edge over Noyer in the backup competition.

If Lytle legitimately beats out Noyer, then Noyer becomes a for sure transfer candidate? I wish we could always keep this amount of depth because they are all very good QB's, but odds are usually against that with Stenstrom and Evans in the wings.

Lately, I have thought that either Lytle or Noyer will transfer out eventually. Guess it might be Noyer and hopefully it doesn't affect the QB group if Montez has a season to remember and decides to declare for the NFL after this season. But I'm not worrying about that since I ain't being paid to do that...that is something for MM to do.

Seems logical. Good problem to have tho!!!

Any updates on Polley? It seems like every article I read or discussion I listen to, Polley is left out. I was super excited about him out of HS, and I know he is still young; should I be concerned with the little that I have heard about his progress?

There should be a number of posts throughout this site about him. He got really sick last Fall and lost a bunch of weight. He is working to put that weight back on and get back to a position where he can compete for the 2 deep.

6'-4" and 250lbs are great numbers for a WR or TE. Not so much for an offensive guard. Now that he is over whatever illness he caught when he arrived, I hope he can get his weight back up quickly. We need all the OL help we can get.

Boom! and thus the value of being an Allbuffs member coming through. Thanks for the update dudes, I didn't know he was ill.
