Official Phillip Lindsay Really is the first undrafted rookie in the ProBowl Thread

Phil's a special player and everyone sees now what we Colorado fans have witnessed for several years. He's so solid at every aspect of the game, and special as a runner and a gunner.

The surprise: The other rookie leading the team in rushing.
The verdict: REAL. Phillip Lindsay, who graduated from high school just a few miles from the Broncos' home stadium, became the first undrafted player in league history to have at least 100 yards from scrimmage in his first two games. He has gotten more touches than third-round pick Royce Freeman. He was a roster longshot when the offseason program opened, but two weeks into the season, the Broncos should now look at him as a primary option as both a runner and a receiver. Lindsay is only 5-foot-8, 190 pounds, so Denver can't use him as a lug-the-rock back with a heavy workload. This isn't just a feel-good, local-kid-plays-for-the-Broncos story, however: Lindsay is the real deal. -- Jeff Legwold
 
There was one call during the Raiders game that was almost a "Lindsay. Lindsay! LINDSAY!" call from the announcer. It's just a matter of time before we get another one of those gems.
 

DENVER — All Phillip Lindsay wants to be for the kids who were at West High School’s Tuesday-afternoon football practice is Willis McGahee.

As Lindsay approached the practice field at Sunken Gardens Park, ready to speak to the team, he recalled the impact that McGahee had on him in 2012, when he had an opportunity to touch a high-school student’s life, and Lindsay knew he could have that same effect six years later.

The situation was much different in 2012, but the end result could be the same.

Lindsay, fresh off surgery reconstructing his ACL after a devastating tear that ended his senior season at South High School, was at the lowest point of his life. His future in football was impossible to predict, and to him, the outlook didn’t seem bright.

And then he got a call from then-Broncos running back Willis McGahee.

I like to see the Broncos do well because I think that's good for the community. But the over-the-top coverage and obsession with the Broncos around here does grate on my nerves. Mostly because I think it holds Denver back as a sports town. There just doesn't seem to be enough room for the Buffs, Nuggets, Avs or anyone else whose season overlaps a lot. Even the Rox become out-of-mind as soon as the Broncos season starts. It's a little much.
 
Philip Lindsay news makes Broncos news bearable. But I'd rather have Broncos news than Rox news any day of the week. I'm so excited the rockies are out of the playoffs.

Love the Phil story but not insignificant to see Freeman near the top of that list as well.

Phil brings a lot of explosiveness but long term it isn't reasonable to expect him to have large numbers of touches. I like the idea of having an effective Freeman to wear out defenses and let Phil do what he does best. The one, two punch.

Also indicates that the OL is being much more effective this year than last.

Still wondering though with Phil and Freeman doing what they are doing why do they insist on continuing to use Booker as much as they have.
